Vehicle description
Up for sale is a quite rare 1966 Oldsmobile Starfire. Only 13,000 of these were made and currently estimates are that less than 1000 are still on the road. This car was built in Kansas City (I have the original build sheet) and delivered to a dealership in San Antonio, TX, where it was sold locally and spent its entire life in the San Antonio area. The car was placed in storage roughly 25 years ago. When we purchased it the fuel tank had been drained so we put fuel in it and put a brand new battery in and hit the key. It started RIGHT UP and ran like a top. Even the air conditioner worked at initial startup. This car has 4 brand new tires and a new battery. It is highly optioned with Air Conditioning, Power Steering, Power Brakes, Power Windows and a Power Driver seat. It has the original console as well as the original bucket seats. This Starfire has the original numbers matching Rocket 425 engine boasting 375 HP and it runs absolutely perfectly. It appears most if not all of the car has been repainted at some point. The paint is somewhat faded and it is dull. I have not tried buffing it out. That is all the good stuff. . now for the not so good. .The car was clearly stored in a garage on concrete and the is light surface corrosion on some of the interior metal surfaces. Only one of the power windows is currently working, I believe there is probably some corrosion in the motors from years of storage in a moist environment. The Headlamp switch is brand new, and the turn signals and lights work but the radio does not. The power seat motor runs but the set does not move again some corrosion is suspect. The driver rear floor is bad and needs to be replaced and currently the passenger side rear is suspect but I have not removed the carpet to look. The front floors are solid, as is the trunk. The front seats will need recovered. They are complete but the driver cover is shot (currently white duct tape to ensure it all stays together) and the rear seat my need it although it looks very good it is likely weak as well. The headliner needs replaced as well. The miles were suspected to be original but there is no documentation, so assume that they are not (from the condition and the spectacular way it runs I could be convinced they are in fact original). This car could be a daily driver as it is right now. It is not a perfect car but WELL worth the light restoration it needs. I actually LOVE this car and have been tempted to keep it but I have just too many other interesting toys. This is an extremely rare car and very hard to find. We believe it is very fairly priced but would entertain serious offers. I have done my best to describe this vehicle in a detailed manner but I encourage you to come look at it and see it for yourself.
