Vehicle description
The MGB is one of the most well-loved British sports cars of the 20th century and, before the introduction of the Mazda Miata, was the most-sold 2-seater convertible in the world. It won the hearts of motoring enthusiasts and quickly became a welcome sight on both road and track. The lightweight roadster was initially powered by a 1.8L B-Series engine that produced 95 horsepower and 110 lb-ft of torque. Though those seem like conservative numbers for a sports car, the 2030lb curb weight and superb handling characteristics resulted in a responsive, rewarding driving experience that rewarded driver skill but was usable and comfortable enough to serve as a daily driver. Today. MGBs are a less common sight, but with extensive aftermarket support, a wonderfully active fanbase, and simple, reliable mechanics, they remain a cherished and sought-after classic sports car.
This 1966 MGB is an excellent example of the platform. For the 1966 model year, MG introduced a new 5-bearing engine that increased reliability, while rubber bumpers and updated interior would not be implemented until 1968. This made cars produced in 1966 and 1967 some of the most highly sought after of the entire MGB production run. They retain the classic, minimalistic styling but benefit from a modernized 95-horsepower engine. This MGB is finished in its original red over black leather color combination. Both paint and upholstery are in excellent condition and benefit from select rally-style alterations, including a Smith tachometer, a trio of driving lights, headlight covers, and leather hood and boot tie-downs. Mechanically, this MGB has been carefully sorted to ensure both reliability and performance. The correct 1.8L engine and 4-speed transmission remain in stock configuration and perform flawlessly. This MGB is a well-sorted British classic ready to take on whatever B-roads you can throw at it.
