“This car is in great condition considering it is 55 years old! It hasn't been molested like some of the others in this age group. The interior looks all original and the front drivers seat is worn to the point that black tape was used to keep it from getting worse. The headliner has a hole in it about the size of a half dollar and the driver's side carpet is separated a few inches from the door area. Normal nicks here and there but overall, really nice. All glass is good. The paint looks great all the way up to touching distance. It's not show condition but it's definitely not an amateur job. A few road chips and 2 dings in the trunk area. Drives straight and great for a car this age. I believe everything works except the clock. Right turn signal has to be manually returned though. I have images for everything mentioned. The drive-train is strong and solid. About 5000-7500 miles on the crate engine. Transmission is smooth and firm. The rear end is a 12 bolt and rock hard.”

Vehicle description

Hello,
We Have a 1966 Chevelle Super Sport for sale. It"s a real deal SS (138 VIN) and not a fake/pieced together clone. It"s been in the family for about 15 years. The odometer shows 26,000 miles on it but who really knows what it is? The body is very straight, doors close good (has a slightly sticky door handle on the drivers side) and overall is in really good shape for its age. It was painted before we bought it and the interior appears to be all original except the carpet, which is newer. The 396 that came with the car was not the original (and not date correct) and was very tired. We opted to buy a GM crate engine instead of rebuilding the old worn out motor. The ZZ 454 engine is a dream motor for this car. It was a factory 469 HP engine but we added a Holley 850 and a GM electronic distributor along with Hooker headers. It"s somewhere between 470 and 490 HP. We also opted to junk the old fan belt system and install a GM serpentine assembly. We were always trying to make sure nothing"s going to fly off or break down when you"re out having fun. The serpentine system is not cheap but is the only way to go! The motor has 512 ft.lbs. of torque and is easy to drive all day, yet if you put your foot down, it will pin you to your seat with authority. BTW, the 450 HP sticker on the air cleaner is about 30 HP. short. It"s mated with either an M-20 or an M-21 4-speed Muncie. I doubt it"s an M-22 and haven"t had the chance to actually look at it but it does have that "Whine" that is familiar with the Muncies. We installed a Center Force 11" clutch and pressure plate when we dropped the new ZZ454 in it too. It also came with a 411 rear end but we switched it out to a 12 bolt 373 which makes it much more road friendly. The new owner can have the 411 if they want it.
This isn"t a show car but it is one of the most unmolested 66"s I ever seen that"s a daily driver. It"s in great shape for its age and it"s dependable enough to go just about anywhere. It has power disk brakes, power steering, runs on pump premium and is a blast to drive! It has a nice sound to it, yet not radical. This engine has some of the best components that would cost thousands more if you were upgrading the original motor. All forged bottom end, i.e. forged crank, forged rods, forged aluminum pistons, roller cam, big aluminum heads, etc. A very easy engine to upgrade if you wanted, yet powerful enough to put a smile on even the most frumpiest of passengers :-) And, it really isn"t that bad on gas mileage if you are just cruising!
It"s time to say goodbye to this wonderful car. It"s been babied, garaged and well maintained throughout its 15 life with our family. Our younger children have never experienced a ride so fun and memorable until they rode in this car. The older generation who grew up with the 60"s era cars usually wave and make hand signs to "spin the tires" when they see or hear the car go by. We hope it finds a family that will have equal pleasure with it!
Please feel free to contact me with any questions and I will do my best to help. I couldn"t get access to a lift to take pictures underneath but I will continue to try and will upload those images during the auction. I was also limited to only 24 pictures by eBay, so if you need something in particular, please let me know and I"ll either text it or email it to you.
The car can be looked at by appointment only. We will try to help you make shipping arrangements if needed. We have this car listed for sale locally, so it"s possible it will sell and this listing will be cancelled.
Thanks for looking.
