Vehicle description
1966 CHEVROLET CHEVELLE 138 CODE Well folks, attached is the auction we won ($50,000) via in two pictures. Car got here, Houston, Texas enclosed ($1800). The seller was tln1988 , Shelby Noyes, his phone number is in the original auction. When you read his story about the car, quite impressive, obviously? We bought it! We knew we were going to make some changes to the car and fix some issues he mentions in his ad. Well, here we are four months later selling the car after sorting out the ?show car?. For those of you who know these cars, you will understand all the work we did to the vehicle after the purchase. That?s why always better to buy a car that is built, rather than do it yourself?.for sure! Our intentions, initially were to remove/ replace the red pinstripe and the power drum brakes (4) and then sell her. Power drum brakes are like landing a spaceship on the moon. You get one shot and then you have to wait for the vacuum to build back up, not good at all?. We ordered four-wheel disc brakes that were both slotted and drilled, look and work amazing! We also took the pinstripe off which was simply a stick-on, we understand what they were after, which was to match the interior, but was cheesy. We ordered Goodrich radial redlines (staggered). The look set-off the car and the stance. Now comes the work we did, that we didn?t plan on. If you watch the video link provided in the original auction, https:/ www.youtube.com/watch?v=22cEyWeuOhg the car indeed looks like a show car, but let?s just say we are neurotic when it comes to our cars. We know them as though they were our own kids. This one looked amazing, but needed some work, here?s the list of what we did. Replace Right Front Lower Ball Joint Install 4 disc brakes including Brake Booster and Master Cylinder Install new brake lines and Hoses Weld brackets for rear brake lines and hoses to rear axle Replace Axle bearings, rear axle cover seal and replace axle gear oil and add friction modulator Front brakes included new spindles and wheel bearings and seals. All new brake rotors and calipers. Remove Steering box and replace seals. Replace turn signal flasher Replace engine dipstick and tube Touch and tighten all body mounts and install missing bolts and nuts. Had front-end alignment checked and adjusted. Replace headliner and side panels Replace/add missing pedal stops Replace missing door stops. Replace decals needed on the engine. Replace windshield wiper motor and pump and correct wiring. Install new washer nozzles and hoses, replace bottle cap and decal Install reverse light switch on transmission with bracket mount. Install missing harness for backup lights to dash. Replace backup lamp sockets and bulbs and correct wiring to the truck. Replace courtesy lamp cover and base in headliner. Check and Reset ignition timing and carburetor linkage adjustment for fuel mixture. Replace missing choke rod, spring and cover. Replace Center console clock with new one. Replace missing wiring harness to center console. Correct wiring from console to fuse box and dash. Correct wiring for fuel gauge, volt-meter (updated unit, no longer amp meter) Correct wiring for temperature gauge Correct wiring to distributor and under dash. Relocate power steering pump reservoir and replace supply hose. Install and balance Red Line tires. So, as we say here in Texas, ?There you go? Amazing to us, what people classify as a ?show car?, well now it?s as close to new without being new! So, for all of you reviewing the work you be the judge. Mind you, if you could identify all these corrections, or find the necessary parts and do the work, what would that be worth to you? Vehicles, like these are a passion for us to work on, and yes we are all old guys! To you the buyer, thank goodness! Some day we will all be gone, as will the knowledge to create correct ?Show cars? If you are interested in this car, let us know. If not, that?s okay too, she is definitely a keeper. Enjoy the pictures.
