Vehicle description
Built for a drive in the wine country or a blast down the track at Sonoma raceway on grudge night, this car was meant to be driven. The car is currently registered in California and will never need to see the smog referee again. This kit is one of two Classic Roadsters Cobra kits I have had stored since 1992. Classic Roadsters went out-of-business in 1992 so this kit is no longer available. The kits were purchased with all mechanicals so no donor vehicles were used in construction. This kit has power assisted rack and pinion steering, power front disc brakes, 2 speed wipers and heater/defroster. The dashboard has been done with Black Walnut which stands out against the white car body.
Fuel system consists of a Carter electric pump feeding a new Holley 670CFM vacuum secondary Street Avenger carburetor with a bypass style pressure regulator and electric choke. The bypass regulator enables the fuel to recirculate avoiding vapor locking with today"s alcohol blended fuels.
The engine is a 1967 Chevy 327 .030OS featuring 10:1 CR, Comp Cams 252H camshaft, and new center hold-down Chevy heads with 1.94/1.50 valves and 64cc chambers. People who have had cars with 327 engines know that they get great gas mileage as well as being strong running and reliable.
Transmission is a stock TH350 with a rebuilt stock torque converter. A Transgo rebuilders shift kit provides improved shift feel without feeling harsh.
Final drive is 3.27:1 limited-slip in a new 8.8" Ford Mustang rear axle.
The original side-pipe mufflers have been replaced with new glass-packs. This greatly reduced back pressure and exhaust pipe temperatures as well as producing nice sounds. This helps reduce under hood temps and makes the side pipes a lot cooler/safer when getting out of the car.
Tires are new 265/50R15 on black Basset DOT approved racing wheels.
I"m leaving it up to the buyer to install a stereo that suits their own needs/desires. A Fosgate head unit currently occupies this spot in the dash. A switch on the dash cuts power to the head unit when the car will be stored for extended periods.
The kit wiring supports features like remote door/trunk openers and fog lights which are also not installed. The kit manual has these details in the wire listings. A copy of the kit assembly manual will be provided to the buyer.
