Up for auction is a beautiful 1965 Pontiac Grand Prix with what is believed to be 88,320 original miles. This Grand Prix was built the third week of November 1964 in Southgate, California and spent the majority of its life in Southern Idaho. The car was restored in the mid 1990s and was repainted in its original Capri Gold (T code) color over a beautiful tan velour interior. The car still retains its original engine with the "YF" code, significant to a 1965 389 4 barrel 325 horsepower with A/C and automatic transmission. The original Carter AFB carburetor remains on the car as well. The car is also factory equipped power brakes, power steering, buckets and console, factory console-mounted vacuum gauge, power windows, AM/FM radio and trunk light.
The interior of this car is very nice and shows very little wear. The seats are entirely intact without any ripping or separating seams. The carpets are clean without any stains and are free of any splits or tears. The dash is beautiful and has a brand-new wood veneer kit installed. The chrome accents are in excellent condition. The vinyl dash pad does have several cracks beneath the carpeted cover. The headliner is beautiful aside from a hole which is covered by the passenger sun visor as shown. An aftermarket radio has been mounted in the glovebox and additional speakers have been added to the package tray and kick panels as shown. The original AM/FM radio turns on and some sound can be heard through the speaker, however the antenna is connected to the other radio. All of the power windows are working however they are a bit slow. The horn is not working.
The exterior of this Grand Prix looks incredible. The body is laser straight and the panel alignment is excellent throughout. The paint shows incredibly well with a deep shine. There are a few small blemishes in the paint typical of its age, along with some paint chipping around the vinyl top trim on the rear quarter as shown, but no major blemishes otherwise. This car is entirely rust free aside from typical surface rust on the frame and suspension components as shown. The fenders, quarters, rockers, door bottoms, floor pans, trunk pan and rear window area are all rock solid as shown. The vinyl top is in excellent condition without any splitting or loose areas.
This car runs and drives very well. The big 389 runs smoothly with excellent torque. The transmission shifts smoothly in all gears as it should. The ride quality is excellent and the car runs straight down the road. The A/C system is completely intact, however the belt has been removed. The compressor will likely need to be rebuilt or replaced.
