Vehicle description
Vehicle Details This is an unmolested, original radio truck. It has a gasoline heater above the cab along with front and rear air ports. The frame and soft top are included, but the top is ripped. The truck runs well but is in need of some maintenance. Someone was interested in buying it right away and wanted it running. It needed a new mechanical fuel pump, but I couldn't get one in time, so I installed an electrical pump that currently runs off a remote gas can. The person never showed to pick it up and I don't have time to work on it. The brakes need a rebuild. They stop, but not well. It looks like there is a leak in the wheel cylinder. The two rust spots are shown in the pictures. The windshield is cracked on the passenger side. There seem to be no fluid leaks. I have had the truck in storage for 5 years and there were no stains in the garage. I checked the axels and hubs and the levels were good. The transmission shifts in all 6 forward gears and 2 reverse gears. The radio box is in very nice shape, with tie-down points on the walls, ceiling, and floor. It has a 24 to 12-volt converter and a built-in desk. The radio box reads: Zeppelin-Metall Werke GmbH 7990 Friedrichshafen Dat. 30 3 88. I take this to mean the box was installed in 1988, but I could be wrong. The box doesn't leak and the reinforced floor has no tears. I was going to make this into an Overlander with a bit bigger tires (44"), but I didn't want to damage the radio box since it was in such good shape. We thought about turning it into a tiny house or a mobile hunting/fishing vehicle, but all that takes time and money. It has been sitting for 5 years and I have lost interest in the project. The Unimog comes with a clean title and is registered as a truck in Michigan. These vehicles are very capable off-roaders with tons of storage and hauling capacity. They have a cult following with a good parts supply chain. The starting bid is way less than I paid for it, but I need the storage space and money. I will be glad to help with shipping arrangements.
