Vehicle description
ABOUT THIS 1965 WALK THRU DELUXE BUS
Restored from 2013-mid 2014. Everything listed as *NEW* was installed during the revival of 2013-2014, or between then and now, the most recent project being the full rewire from front to back. This build has less than 2000 miles on everything listed. Comes with keys, clean title, and a large folder of receipts for all parts and labor. Kombi Haus in Sacramento, CA knows this bus well and they did a lot of the work, as well as myself. Before I purchased this bus in 2013, it was last registered in 1995, and had been sitting indoors. I have the previous owners REG slip to tie in a little history. Previous owner had done suicide doors, which I converted back, it was not done correctly.
Rear Tail lights were frenched in the 90’s, I liked this look for the bus and kept them. There was a little rust when I got the bus, front floor, and a few patches in the cargo area, all were replaced, which gave nice access to the steering when reworking everything and replacing parts. There is a little bit of Bondo in the lower front nose that’s never been addressed. This Bus is extremely solid, reliable, and fun to cruise anywhere. It’s currently adjusted to sit very low, slammed. If you plan on camping or going off traditional roads or offensively large speed bumps, driving strategies must be taken, or simply raise the bus to your desired height. This has been a very extensive build, it cruises nicely at 72 on the freeway. All parts have been sourced from Bustoration, WagensWest, WolfsBurg West, Kombi Haus, The Samba, AirCooled.net, and a few smalls from Cip1, all recipes come with the bus.
What it"s like to drive:
It"s QUICK! Not fast, it"s quick! Definitely not a slow bus. When I first got this bus I was driving it on the original drum brake system and a single master cylinder. Driving in California I quickly learned that it simply wasn"t safe! I upgraded to front Wilwood disc brakes with slotted rotors. The rear which is a Type 1 swing axle made for an easy upgrade to the larger drum brakes from a Type 3. This bus stops better than my daily driver Honda. It cruises nicely on the freeway at a cool 72MPH.
Bus Boys designed a new steering column, and the wheels were aligned at Kombi Haus in Sacramento. The front beam was custom built and it"s fully adjustable. The rear end has custom welded off-set spring plates, these are manually adjustable (no built in adjusters). The bus is currently sitting VERY LOW/ Slammed. If you plan on going camping or going off traditional roads you"ll need to adjust the ride height, this has been serving me as a city bus, and out of town cruiser, Home Depot runs, and so on.
People will look at you. . A LOT. Some days I want to be left alone, and people are taking photos, and kids waving, people honking. I mean, it"s a split window bus with safari windows. . it"s epic.

Please read on, or let"s Facetime. I"ll be available to answer any and all questions.
Thank you.
