Vehicle description

NO RESERVE! ! If you"ve been looking for a "65 Riv to restore, this should be on your "must have" list. It needs a complete restoration, including paint and interior. There is rust-through on the floors. So why is it a good restoration candidate? Because IT IS COMPLETE! Every piece of exterior trim is there and in excellent condition. And if you know Rivieras, you know there is a whole bunch of exterior trim! All of the cardboard trunk lining pieces are ruined, but they are all there. It"s easy to chase a part if you know what it looks like and how it fits. And an almost impossible-to-find "65 Riviera part is the clamshell headlamp motor. I found one, N.O.S., and am including it in the sale with all of the headlamp linkage and a reproduction Buick Service Manual written just for the headlamp assembly. Standard in all Rivieras, the transmission is a TH400 and the rear axle is a positraction unit. The motor is not original- it is a 425 C.I. unit replacing the original 401. The block casting number is 1364704. The mileage shown is just over 76,000 but I do not guarantee that it is correct. This car ran great when I parked it back in 2003. I haven"t tried to start it since and I"m not going to, so assume the drivetrain needs to be rebuilt. For $500 over the winning bid I will throw in an Offenhauser 2x4 aluminum intake and two 500 CFM Edelbrock carbs, all new and in the original boxes. This is a strictly optional purchase and is not part of what you are bidding on.
So why am I selling it? I"m 15 years older than the car and have two restoration projects ahead of it- I doubt I"ll even get both of them done! It"s time to give someone else a shot at this restoration and get this Riviera back on the road. The car has a clear Montana title. If you have questions, please contact me through Ebay and I"ll try to respond quickly. Here is one answer to a question I anticipate so I might as well get it out of the way- "no", I will not sell the headlamp motor separately.
A $500 Paypal payment from the high bidder is required within 48 hours of the close of bidding. The balance of the payment is due within one week of the close of bidding. A cashier"s check for the balance is preferred, but I will accept a personal check as long as the winner is willing to wait for it to clear the bank before picking up the car. Cash is always welcome if the winner picks up the car in person.
Shipping is strictly the responsibility of the buyer, although I will help load it up if you bring a trailer. Thanks for looking!
