Vehicle description
Selling for a friend. One of just 22,016 Bonneville soft tops made for 1964, it’s a beauty in the original color of Cameo Ivory, which has only been re-painted once. The car shows 71,157 miles, which cannot be documented, but the car certainly looks it. He’s the fourth owner and has a clear title in hand.
Powered by the standard, freshly tuned up 389-4V engine, rated at 306 HP, it breathes through a nearly new dual exhaust system. The power is transmitted through a Hydramatic transmission with four forward gears plus reverse motivating the 14 inch hubcapped wheels. It runs great and has plenty of power. Because it sits a lot, the carburetor should eventually be gone through or replaced. A new, one-piece driveshaft replaces the original two-piece unit and the front end was recently aligned.
Power options include brakes, steering, and the antenna, which does not work. In the interior, a re-upholstered back seat in the original vinyl was recently completed to better match the front. There is even quite a bit of left-over material in the lighter color. The radio is an AM unit with reverb, both of which work as designed.
The body is very nice overall and only a few pieces of chrome trim could use some minor attention. It’s not too obvious and really doesn’t detract from its very looming presence when looking at it from any angle. The top looks great, works properly and even has a new boot. Although not perfect, this car presents extremely well. It seems to have one small patch area of about 3"x3" on the lower quarter panel right in front of the wheel opening above the molding, was done professionally and is nearly undetectable and the rest of the metal is solid when tested with a magnet/paint measuring tool. Anyone would be proud to own this creampuff! The owner has many receipts and other documentation for this beautiful convertible.
Priced to sell! A car this nice at this price won’t last, so contact me to answer any other questions you may have, send you more photos, and arrange a showing. Inspections are welcome and we will work with your inspector.
Sorry, no trades. The owner just needs to sell it. Transportation is the sole responsibility of the purchaser. The car can be stored for a couple weeks while arrangements are made. Thank you.
