Vehicle description
As you can see, this is a barn find. Apologies for the bad photos. Lighting is an issue in this barn! This auction is priced for the car"s engine, transmission, suspension, body, door hardware and misc parts found on the car. Engine and trans are assumed to be useable. Engine turns when a wrench is applied to the crankshaft end bolt, and with the plugs loosened. I put Marvel Mystery oil (about 4 tablespoons per cylinder) then waited a month before trying to turn the crankshaft. TITLE - PLEASE NOTE: This car can be titled in CT for you, but that will take approx $250 worth of my time, and a month plus, IN ADDITION to the auction selling price, if that is important to you. I feel this car is best used for its parts. Per the VIN number, this MGB is likely a 1964, but could be a 1965 depending on what web site you work with. Per the engine number (18GH-WE-H26918), this is either a 1969 or 1970 engine. It could be a C in place of the G in that engine number. I"d imagine the gearbox is also the same vintage. This car was once white, but it looks like (per the sparkle blue paint and white vinyl) that the car was "redone" (ahem) in the early 1970s. Steering wheel might be restorable. As you can see, there is surface rust. The undented doors have windows inside them, although there appears to be overspray on the uncracked glass. Doors open begrudgingly. No dents to speak of on fenders / sides. Hood / bonnet is rusty but could be restored. Missing rear trunk lid. The front and back underside is actually in fair shape as it was undercoated; see photos of rear and front sections. If you wanted to work with the body, for a restoration, you will need new floor panels, as there are holes in both of them. The sills are so - so, in the sense that holes in the floor come up to the edges of the box of the sill assembly. There is a small hole rusted from the inside out in one sill. I can email you photos. Note previous repair (welding) by the drivers left foot interior sill and floor. Seats and vinyl top are good for frames and lower sliding hardware only in my opinion (I can email you photos, but any covering is in rough shape). All four wire wheels have been recently taken off and put back on, and they all rotate freely. The tires on them have inner tubes in them, and the passenger side tires will hold air for a few hours. Car has no parking or regular brakes. Includes ignition key. I"ll include the exhaust manifold, that is, the cast iron (?) part that is attached to the engine. Caveats: LOCAL PICKUP ONLY. I can help you load this car, but buyer must arrange for pickup. This car is in Deposit, NY and the barn it is in is sometimes surrounded by snow. It may be a while before this car can be extracted, since ground is usually wet underneath the snow. Potentially, plywood could be used to get the car up onto pavement.
