Vehicle description
Selling my father"s beloved 1964 Ford Thunderbird with approximately 67,1xx miles (and climbing since I have cruising with it on the weekends). He has owned this beauty for over 12 years and unfortunately his health is forcing the sale.
Featuring a FoMoCo 390, this car lacks nothing spare for a driver and is incredibly smooth on the road. The comfort of the ivory leather interior is where this car really shines and stands out. The classic 1960"s styling with numerous cool features such as boat stitched rear booth seating, and front captain buckets combined with chrome and wood trim makes this car truly unique. Another very cool feature is the "tilt-away" steering wheel which swung to the passenger side of the car to allow a driver to get in and out easier; the entire car is dripping with class and styling.
As with any classic driver, the car has a few imperfections. The coolant occasionally needs to be topped off, and the transmission has a slow drip (less than 4 quarts in the time he has owned it, however it does leave some drops behind when parked for several days). There is a slight bit of cosmetic blemishes on the body/paint, but I wouldn"t hesitate for a second to take it to a car gathering/show and feel like it"s unsightly. It currently pulls unbalanced under braking however I"m pretty sure this is just an adjustment issue and might try to have it looked at in the near future. Lastly, the odometer stopped working last summer while driving and is currently showing 66,581 miles on it but seeing that it is only driven 4-6 months of the year and a couple times per month - my estimation comes at 67,1xx miles right now. It is a strong runner and very reliable starter - it will make someone very happy for years to come from someone who will enjoy it.
All around it saddens me that he"s having to let this classic go but it will be better driven versus sitting - although it is truly beautiful just sitting there too. I"m happy to try and answer any questions I can as best as possible, the car is located in Madison, WI and available to be seen with a little coordinating and notice ahead of time. Reserve the right to end auction early due to private sale. Happy to answer any questions - feel free to call/text at Six Zero Eight 345-2203
