Vehicle description
1964 Ford Galaxie XL Convertible 427 clone 4 speed 400+hp I have my Galaxie XL Convertible for sale . The car has power steering, power brakes, and power top. I t has a fresh , never driven yet 390 stoked to 428ci . It is disguised to look like the original 427 would look with a numbers matching aluminum 4V manifold with 1964 Ford part numbers, shorty headers original style, plain valve covers and original style air cleaner. This is the second time around and I have decided not to keep it . I have spent over $8000 putting it back together and will sell without even taking it for an extended test drive. It has over 2 hours run time in the garage and was driven up and down my long driveway. I have a bad knee and it is very difficult for me to work the clutch at this time. I would like to sell before I get my knee repaired. The car was restored by me a few years ago and was originally a 390 - 4 speed car. The car was rough when I purchased it but I replaced almost all the sheet metal using a 1964 hardtop with no rust whatsoever . T here is no rust on the car now and very little filler as all repairs were done with metal. The mechanical condition of the car is excellent with good tires, brakes and steering. The convertible top works fine and is in almost new condition. The exterior chrome and stainless is in excellent condition . T he interior is very nice - carpet, seat covers and dash pad have been replaced . E verything else is in good , original condition. Everything except for the radio & clock are working . T he radio may work but is not wired up as it is just an AM radio. The engine will need proper break-in before it can be driven normally. These are specs on the engine: 3.980” crank 6.488 big beam forged rods with ARP rod bolts 10 to 1 compression pistons new flat tappet cam .562” Int/.565” Exhaust valve lift Hardened valve seats
1.440” high perf springs to match cam spiral type valve guides Perfect Circle rings
double row timing chain high volume oil pump the block is a high nickel content truck block which is much stronger than a car block - all internal components were balanced. Click here to see a YouTube video of the engine running: https:/ youtu.be/sdv8GMJHlqA
