Vehicle description

1964 Ford Galaxie 500 Convertible for Sale – Pittsburgh PA Fly in, drive home. For your consideration is a beautiful Galaxie 500 Convertible. This car is now in Pittsburgh but was recently driven from Virginia to Pennsylvania. That’s right, driven, not trailered. While the car is not a perfect show car, it is super presentable and there are some really neat things about the car. Such as, it was driven 100s of miles on a recent trip with no issues. It has a full new interior and many other new items. Below I will run through the condition of the Exterior, Interior, Underside and Mechanical. I will do my best to describe the condition of the car. You are always welcome to come inspect the car or have someone inspect the car. The photos I will provide should give good detail. At the bottom of this description will be a link to more photos, you will have to click the link or even copy and paste it. If you have questions, let me know. I am also experienced in exporting cars so bidders from around the world are welcome! Clear PA Title! 77,000 miles on the car. 49,000 miles on the 390! Exterior: Finished in a blue paint, the car is very truthful and will show you its condition. While there isn’t rust or corrosion, the paint is older. It isn’t as shiny as it could be. The trim is all complete and in very nice shape for its age. All of the exterior lights and indicators work as they should. A brand-new windshield, windshield gaskets, and windshield wipers were just put in the car this Autumn. The windows work well and the top works flawlessly. The top is also newer, it looks great! With a touch of the factory button the top goes up and down as it should. You can choose to repaint the car or drive it as it is. As an owner of driver level cars and concourse show cars, I always can get more enjoyment out of a driver car such as this Galaxie 500! The wheels are authentic Magnum 500s. Interior: This is where this car really shines. The interior is all fresh. Just this summer the entire interior has been redone. All of the interior was removed (the floors are just about perfect by the way, still showing nice factory blue overspray on red oxide). All of the seats were rebuilt and re-covered. The design is similar to OEM however using a waterproof soft vinyl. It looks OEM, feels like leather and is water proof. This is a good upgrade for a convertible. If you get caught in the rain, no big deal! The carpet is new ACC. A new dash pad was added, not just a cover but a new pad. The dash lights have been replaced with brighter bulbs. The door panels are brand new. Not just recovered, the boards are new too! The top works perfectly, along with the windows and doors. All of the windows open and close nicely, same with the doors. They open and close like they did in 1964! The horn, heat, AM/FM radio, top, gauges and lights all work as they should! The radio works and it’s an aftermarket AM/FM that fits in the stock location. Underside: The frame is solid and in great shape. The floors are very solid, no issues. It hasn’t been undercoated or hidden so you can see all of its good condition. The trunk pan has been replaced. The exhaust system is dual 2” with Flowmaster two chamber mufflers (it sounds great). Suspension is tight and the car has front disk brakes. Mechanical: A 390 Fe provides the power to this Galaxie. The engine is from a 300 Horsepower 390 from a 1963 Thunderbird. It has 1964 Galaxie chrome “dress up” valve covers. The air cleaner is a similar style. The engine is strong and has a wonderful compression test. #147 was the lowest and #159 was the highest, about 1% variant. The distributor has been recurved and a Pertronix electric ignition has been added. Along with that was a 45,000v coil, new plug wires and Autolite 124 spark plugs. The valve cover thermostat is new and 180*. The coolant, power steering fluid and oil & filter have recently been replaced. The oil is high zinc Driven 10/40W. There are no apparent leaks. The Autolite 4100 4-barrel carburetor has been rebuilt. A one wire alternator has been added for charging reliability. All of these new parts and fluids only have a few 100 miles on them! Front disk brakes and a dual master cylinder have been added for safety! All of the brakes are in good condition with only a few 1,000 miles on them. Power Steering! Power DISK Brakes! – All work really well! The car starts easy, runs well and cool. It shifts firm and crisp, the car goes nice, steers great and stops nicely. Please bid with confidence. If you have questions, let me know. This is a wonderful car to enjoy those beautiful days in. As always with a classic, this car is sold as is with no warranty. The buyer is responsible for transportation and payment. The car will not be released to leave until payment has cleared. A check can be mailed, once its cleared, the car can leave (even a bank check may have a few days). A wire transfer is fine with any associated fees covered by the buyer. Pay Pal deposit is fine under $500. Cash works, too.
There are many extra parts in the trunk. Including a full set of wheel covers and some hard to find trim.
