Vehicle description

HJ Mulliner originally created these dropheads by cutting off the top of a 4-door saloon from the factory, extending the front door and fitting a convertible top. Around 1980 an enterprising Englishman, Steven Pilkington, of glass company renown, acquired the jigs for the conversion parts from RR and made a number of conversion kits, from which this car was constructed. It has all the minor options that the original had, such as engine wall braces, reinforced A post, original top operation switch, Persplex visors, and rear crank up windows. After the conversion started, the car was stored, and one year ago, the conversion and finishing was restarted and recently finished. The car is painted in a flawless RR color, claret, and the interior finished in genuine Connolly saddle hydes. The car was then detailed and serviced mechanically. The wood is gorgeous. It runs like new and stops similarly. The car has a complete set of road and small tools, and handbook. Asking price $269.500-will take a bit less for fast sale-trade considered. Bodywork done by Palmer Coachwork, Burbank, CA. Mechanical work-Doug Siebert. Wood-Stan Scatlin. Upholstery-Julio Munoz, Elizabeth, NJ An original example of this car, needing much restoration work, recently was sold by RM for $1.15 million. A private sale then took place at the same figure.
