Check out this 1963 AMC Rambler American 440-H! The 440 was a two door hardtop and the H was the top of the line with sporty bucket seats, a center console and a more powerful version of the inline six cylinder engine. Producing 138 horsepower and backed with a 3-speed manual with overdrive, this 440-H is an absolute blast to drive! The Twin Stick Shift basically turned to 3-speed into a 5-speed by allowing overdrive in 2nd and 3rd gears. This car was Motor Trends Car of the Year for 1963 and a few minutes behind the wheel will show you why. The hardtop was painted a different color from the body to mimic a closed convertible top, and really takes this hardtop to the next level. This is a one year only car with only 9,749 reported to be built. This example has A/C, white wall radial tires on Rambler hub caps and a receipt for $2,500 of work just performed to make sure this beauty is ready to hit the open road. Recent work includes a new clutch, alignment, full front end suspension rebuild, all new soft steering components, brake rebuild with new shoes and cylinders, engine tune-up including spark plugs, points, condenser, oil pan gasket, valve cover gasket, spark plug wires and more. An oil change, all new shocks, all new bushings, rear differential fluid change and painted new undercarriage parts in rust proofing black paint rounds off the list of recent work. All work was done by a professional shop. The tires are also new, so all this car needs is a driver and its time to cruise! This 440-H comes with an original Owners Manual, Maintenance Handbook, and parts catalog for 1963-1967 American Motors vehicles. This vehicle is eligible for an extended service contract through Classic Vehicle Protection. Click the Warranty tab for more info.
