Vehicle description
Offered For Sale at NO RESERVE is this 1963 TR3B Time Capsule Roadster. . Same owner for 55 Years! Never Wrecked and Never Rusted! Vintage Race Prep! We are excited to offer this unique TR3B Roadster for Sale. TCF2440L was purchased from a local British Leyland Dealership as a gently used sports car in May of 1966. Since that purchase in 1966 this TR3B has only spent two nights outside and those 2 nights were in the paddock of Elkhart Lake. Thats over 20,000 nights garaged and we are told seldom if never in the rain. (Wow!) In 1967 this Triumph was upgraded with handling and safety modifications using Triumph Factory Competition Equipment from Leyland-Triumph Central Zone, Detroit, MI and subsequently was entered in drivers school at Mid America Raceway (MAR) in Wentzville in March 1968. Modifications included: • Frame welded roll bar • Rear suspension torque rods • 5" steel wheels with racing slicks • Header exhaust system • Oil cooler kit • Competition front springs • Front sway bar • Koni shocks • Electric fuel pump and • Simpson safety harness. The remainder of 1968 was spent making major engine and drivetrain modifications and upgrades in preparation for SCCA E Production Competition. Upgrade included: • Race Prepped Overdrive Transmission (built by the late Bill Boemler) • 4:11 Detroit Locker differential • Tube fed cold air box • GT6 Mk1 seats • Rebuilt Dash with all new Stewart Warner instrumentation including Tachometer • 2.2 Liter piston sleeve set • Type D camshaft & pushrod set • Lightweight flywheel • Competition valve spring set • Engine was built and machined by local Triumph race expert Bill Boemler. A new military career stalled future race plans and this TR3B spent the next 3 decades in storage. In 2010 the car was refurbished and upgraded to its former glory. The new upgrades included:• Petronix Electronic Ignition • Summit Racing12 Gallon Fuel Cell • Summit Racing Electric Cooling Fan • Fresh White Paint with Blue Racing Stripes 2012 upgrades continued: • Complete Front End rebuild • Complete Brake System rebuild including all new lines • Complete Carburetor rebuild with new heat shield • Moss Motors High Torque starter • All New Belts & Hoses 2013 upgrades included: • Machined and installed new ALFIN rear brake drums 2014 upgrades included: • Replaced thrust bearings • Installed New Generator and Voltage Regulator • Rebuilt steering gear • Installed Macey"s Garage Hurricane Fan Assembly 2015 upgrades included: • Installed RARE Triumph Factory Aero Screen reproductions which look simply awesome. The car starts right up and roars to life through the Supertrapp exhaust muffler. . the engine sounds completely healthy and revs easily. . it does produce oil smoke. I judge that perhaps the piston rings have not properly seated due to lack of use - OR - the vallve seals need replacing. This car is visually stunning and will get you to the podium at any British or European car show and the owner has the hardware to prove it. It would be an easy conversion to a vintage racer as well. (Think Kastner Cup) Notebook containing all receipts and paperwork on the build are included as well as images of the car at drivers school. Some original parts are available as well including original cylinder head. This car is Awesome! Never Rusted. Never Wrecked.
