About this vehicle This 1962 Studebaker Champ is a restored vehicle with updates to the drivetrain. The owner has had it for 1 year. The vehicle runs great and is mainly used for weekend drives. Vehicle Details A terrific example of a Champ at a reasonable 2021 price. This is a working truck for weekend duties around the home - but it’s always ready to show. Sold in the spring of 1962 as one of several on a New York (Long Island) potato farm, this 7E7 short bed in “Desert Tan” was originally equipped with the 259-V8 and 4.09 rear axle. Through all its owners it eventually had a bulletproof 289 full-flow V8 transplanted from a 64 Hawk GT, along with its 3.31 rear axle around 20 years ago. As soon as I brought this Champ home from central FL, I replaced all the brake shoes and all hydraulics including new lines from InlineTube. Stops like it should - parking brake works too. New BFG bias ww tires: 6.70-15. The heavy-duty 4-speed it was born with is still running strong. Clutch is heavy but gives great take-up. Seat upholstery, door cards, visors and headliner all in great condition. Carpet kit done before my time - false wood floor gives a level deck for loads; heavy rubber mat protects it.
