About this vehicle 1962 Lincoln Continental Convertible For Sale (keep scrolling, more details and MORE PICS below)
Up for sale is a running, driving and stopping 1962 Lincoln Continental. It will need body work, interior and top work - but ALL the mechanical systems have been gone over and replaced where needed. It has 43,481 miles on the odometer and the original 430 big block V8. The top DOES NOT work, but the convertible frame and all the associated parts such as solenoids, switches, wiring, hydraulic cylinders etc are all included and there).
A long list of what was done is below. Besides the cost of the car originally, over $15,000 (parts and labor) in mechanical work was done recently below. I am selling the car for the owner, who lost storage and my fully insured/licensed auto repair shop in Exton, PA 19341 did all the work below and is where the car is currently stored indoors.
4 Brand new 235/75/R15 Hankook Optimo H724 whitewall tires with new grey steelie rims with chrome center baby moon hubcaps. New full dual master cylinder brake upgrade (from the old single master cylinder). A newly rebuilt OEM power brake booster and Wilwood proportioning valve was installed along with brand new brake lines to the front wheels. The dual master cylinder makes it so much better and safer at braking. New front and rear brake shoes installed (drums were OK and not scored etc) and we repacked all the wheel bearings. The emergency brake has been adjusted and works too! New 600 CFM Edelbrock carb with electric choke + new custom fuel line and fuel filter and a matte black edelbrock air cleaner New aluminum 4 core direct fit radiator, cap, thermostat, upper and lower radiator hoses and fresh antifreeze flush (this was all custom work to install and fit the new radiator) New Aluminum 17 inch flex fan for better cooling New custom made metal radiator shroud installed New one wire Tuff Stuff alternator (to replace the old low voltage generator that barely could charge the battery). 2 new drive belts also installed at same time. This required us to source 2 later 60’s Lincoln alternator brackets and a dual belt pulley New Bosch battery with new positive and negative cables New Pertronix Ignitor II electronic ignition, new cap and rotor, new ignition vacuum advance, 8 new spark plugs and wires along with new Flame thrower II coil. New valve cover gaskets installed Recent oil change 100 miles ago with proper zinc additives added to oil. Battery cut off switch under the dash for security and when storing the car over winter, it does not kill your battery, custom thick battery cables ran to the under dash switch New rear exhaust from the rear axle back with 2 new mufflers Front bumper replaced with a used, but nice driver quality OEM bumper as the prior one was very rusty. Replaced front grill with a used, but nice driver quality OEM grill (prior one was broken in multiple spots) Purchased a used trunk (baby blue in color) lid shipping which is in very good condition compared to others out there. If you do your research, you will know these are VERY hard to come by for ones that aren"t completely rusted out. The topside is in very good shape with one small top corner needing some rust repair. The underside does have some rust on it and should be coated with a rust inhibitor. The trunk is not attached currently, but does sit on the back and wont slide off, but should be attached before any longer drive. A trunk flipper panel + an underside panel to the flipper was also purchased to make the trunk area complete. Comes with two manuals for this year Lincoln with full wiring diagrams and information on the whole car. Brand new seat belts included too.
A list of what needs to be done: The convertible top frame is disconnected and in the trunk (with ALL associated parts), so it can be driven as a 24/7 convertible but the whole top does not work and does not have the cloth top. Body is very solid and straight, and is not riddled with rust holes - but does have a lot of surface rust. You could sand it down a bit, spray it with satin clear and drive it “as is” with the patina or fix it. The main areas of rust are on the top drivers door (about where the side mirror is mounted along with the lower drivers side door. The rockers have some rust in the very lower parts (not everywhere) and the floors are very good (prior owner patched a few floorboards via welding and pop riveted metal). We sanded down any rust and coated with POR 15 rust inhibitor on the rear floors. Will need a back seat as it is missing (was completely falling apart and not salvagable), but everything else is complete on the car. All trim is original, complete and there - but might need some polishing work. The drip rails around the front of the trunk are rusty and will need to be fixed. Power steering works good, but the power steering lines might need to be bled again and is a groans a bit on turns, we followed the proper bleeding procedure but after replacing the power steering lines (which also go to and run the wiper motor) - it makes the wipers stay on constantly and is a bit noisy when turning. We disconnected the wipers, but they are included with the sale. Right rear bumper end is rusty, but replacements can be found online fairly inexpensively. Other 3 bumper ends (and full bumper center) are in very good driver quality. No title (original was lost when prior owner passed away), but bill of sale will be provided. You can get a new title in your name via the Vermont title transfers and it is legal to transfer title to VT and then to your state (google it or check it out here): https:/ www.cartitles.com/title-option-2/ You can come see the car in person any day of the week at my auto repair garage, located in Exton PA 19341 and we have no problem putting it up on a lift for you to review top to bottom and feel free to bring your own mechanic!
