Seller"s Notes You are welcome to view it before the auction ends. Have at it or send someone if needed. Vehicle Details "Honey, get me a farm truck, and I don't want shiny. It's gotta be an early 60s Ford shortbed with a stick. I want it for the vineyard, light work getting feed and straw, but mainly to look cute going for a coffee." -said a wife 7 yrs ago "Okay, sure thing, honey." -said a husband happy to try to provide anything the mother of his children could ever ask for. So, I found this California truck that had been sitting for 40 years after it served some duty as a forest service truck and then as a truck for the Helix Water District in San Diego. I bought it as a solid roller, original paint, bad motor, but it came with air in all 5 different sized wheels and tires. It got lost in my barn for 5 yrs until my son, age 9 then, said, "Papa, let's pull the motor." That small nudge was all it took. About 15k in parts, labor, and special machine work later, and it was running, rolling, stopping, turning, and keeping itself cool. Registered again and insured, it became the instant favorite badass truck in town with matching rims, hubcaps, radial tires, shocks, and a list of hundreds of other essential items to make it fun and trouble-free. I had to splurge for the custom Flowmaster exhaust, electronic ignition, auto choke, alternator to replace the archaic generator, DB Electric starter, power brake upgrade, fuel tank, lines, pump, nearly everything needed to make a truck go and stop, rain or shine. Specifically annoying was that the rules were that I NOT do anything cosmetically to it. My wife insisted it retain its patina and age. Now, 7 yrs later, the truck has been mechanically restored and back to daily use (for the past 1500 miles) both professionally and by myself (40 yrs turning wrenches for AutoVintagery and personally). The disappointment and sad part about all of this is that we are getting divorced after 21 yrs. She told me to keep it, because I am the one who put so much into it. I have 3 other vehicles and I really do not need nor want to juggle them all as a single man renting a studio by the beach. Having lots of cool old cars and trucks was fun and more reasonable on a huge rural property with a barn and vineyard. It made sense. Here now at the beach, it is just cool, and it draws a lot of looks especially from married women. What is up with that? Funny. Anyway, if I did it all over again, I would have done the paint, body and rubber trim. It is not too late if that is your thing, but I am becoming emotionally detached from all of my things. All rubber parts are available still cheap, so if you buy it, we can negotiate that into the deal if you need guidance or direction. If you pay full price, I will help you as much as I can, but you will need to pay in full within 72 hrs (not meaning weekends due to banking hours). You arrange and pay for shipping.
