Vehicle description
1961 Impala bubble top true original survivor car. 283/2 speed Powerglide. This car is amazing to say the least. It has never been apart! Body, interior, drivetrain 100% original and in excellent condition. Every piece of trim, chrome, glass, bumper, fender, emblem, etc is 100% original and in near perfect condition. You will NOT find a nicer original, untouched, unmolested example of a 61 Impala anywhere. My father bought this car about 20 years ago as a 100% original car. He then did a few things to make the car appear how he wanted and make it more enjoyable to drive. He lowered it, added wheels/tires/power front disc brakes, seat belts, radio, aluminum radiator, switched it from generator to alternator, and painted the White insert between the side trim to match the interior color and wheels. Other than that, it"s as it was the day it left the factory. As stated above, all the sheet metal, floors, trim, bumpers, glass, paint, interior, etc are totally original and have never been touched or removed from the car. It is truly an amazing example. This car draws a crowd everywhere it goes. People ask who painted it, when was it restored, etc etc. It"s never been painted or restored! It"s never even had a bumper removed that we are aware of.
The wheels are Boyd Coddington 18x8 front and 19X9 rear with 245/40/18 front tires and 285/35/19 rears. The car has a perfect stance and has no rubbing anywhere at anytime. Runs down the road great. It was lowered with dropped spindles and springs so there is no air bags to worry about. Just get in and drive!
It was purchased from a friend who found it in the upper peninsula of Michigan in dry storage for years with vaseline on all the weatherstripping and seals. It was an amazing find and there"s more to the story if you"re interested but believe it or not, it"s always been a Michigan car. It was bought new in Dearborn, MI, always stored in the winter and extremely well cared for over the years and it definitely shows. It is rock solid. He brought it back and my father bought it immediately. He has owned it for almost 20 years now and just turned 80 years old. He doesn"t drive it much anymore so he"s ready to let someone else enjoy it. Don"t miss out on this opportunity. I guarantee you will not find a nicer original example.
