Vehicle description
First a little about me. I have been working on TR3"s since 1970 so I know them fairly well. I am currently restoring 3 TR3"s for customer and this one is better than 2 of them. I have restored 30 or so of these so the info I give you will be as accurate as I can make it. This TR3 was disassembled by the gentleman I purchased it from after he reached his skill limit. I was going to restore it, but fortunately my better half looked at me and commented about my already having several others in front of it, so I am passing it on. Now about the car! It is a very solid car to restore and very reasonably straight. Chassis is solid and does not appear to have ever been bent. A big plus for a TR3. Body tub is very very nice. spare tire pan is clean and solid. I spotted 1 rust hole in the trunk pan about the size of a nickel, the rest of the trunk is solid. One floor has been replaced with makeshift metal , nice job but a redo if doing a correct restoration. The other has a few holes in it and was being removed when the last owner lost interest. I would replace both pans. Bottom of battery box is rusted out but there is a new bottom to go in it with the car. Doglegs are solid facing the outside, but the bottom part that faces the ground is rusting/ rusted out and will need patched. I would in NO way replace the doglegs, they don"t need it. inner sills are solid and don"t need replaced. Outer sills , one appears very good and doesn"t appear to need replaced, The other is soft for about 4 inches on the bottom. Again I would not replace it from initial inspection , I would cut out and patch the bottom bad area. That keeps the door openings nice and original. Hood, spare tire cover and doors are all nice and have had some preliminary body word and priming done to them. Trunk lid is fine . Nose has the correct shape but needs some straightening , very workable. Rear panel has a slight crease from a minor bump, again very workable, in no way does it need removed or replaced. Rear fenders are fairly good. Front fenders, one the previous owner had started cutting one to replace the bottom and this will need finished. The other is still all together and reasonably straight but does have some rust bubbles so will need attention. Engine is all apart. Transmission is unmolested. All or 99% of the parts appear to be present including unbroken windshield, top bows dash panel etc. Now to the fine print! I have described this as accurately as possible, and probably make it sound worse than it is but I would rather the new owner be be pleased it is nicer than expected than to be disappointed as often happens because of intentional nondisclosures. Yes ,you will need engine parts, interior, chrome and even paint and some sweat equity. I would rather you see it apart as I received it instead of my putting a few bolts in it and making it appear as a whole together vehicle. I am sure I have left something out but I Don"t know what. Since I restore so many TR3"s, I have a fair # of spares here, so if something is missing within reason, and I have what is missing on hand I will try to work with the new owner. That being said, you are buying what is in the pictures. Any questions Please feel free to ask. Please feel free to come inspect the car. Thanks Dave
