Vehicle description
This car is very original. Has the original numbers matching 389 2 barrel engine and transmission. These cars are known for getting very good MPGs in the low 20s.
Condition is not great but it"s fixable. It"s pretty rusted and needs someone good with body work. Needs new floor and trunk pans welded in. Frame is still good. It has the original engine and I have started it and it sounded pretty good. It is also 99% complete. The only things missing on this car is a battery, a gas tank, and two letters in the emblems. Other that that it is complete and has all the trim and some extra body parts including trunk, hood, front a rear bumpers (they are in better shape than what is on it but will likely still need rechromed). The biggest issue with the car is the rust. The previous owner thought it was a good idea to use spray foam as body filler. Everywhere they did this held moisture to the metal and it rusted. They also lived in Florida. While you won"t find the kind of frame rust you get in salted road states, it does have plenty of cancer on the sheet metal. Also on the drivers side most of the wheel studs are broken off. The passenger side all but one lugnut are removable. The eagle alloy wheels in the pic are expensive and not sold anymore. There is one small bullseye in the front windshield but no growing crack and rear window is in good shape. The side glass has some cracks in it on both sides.
My plan was to replace the tires, wheel studs, go through the brakes, tune up the engine, service the transmission. Weld a trunk pan into the car. Get the car media blasted. Fill the holes with welding and fiberglass body filler. Weld a floor pan into the interior. The interior will need some freshen up, door panels and kick panels on each side redone. Slap some paint on it and you have yourself a restored car.
Even though I have started the car, ran it, and drove it under it"s own power and I"m confident it will do it again with a battery and fuel source. However It"s been a year since it was started and will not be starting the car before the end of the auction. I don"t want it running without the fluids changed. I expected it to run with a tune up but won"t guarantee it"s running condition. If someone is willing to put the time in it"s should be a fun restore job for a reasonable price.
Contact me if you would like to look at it before the auction ends. Buyer arranges shipping from Scappoose Oregon (20 miles from Portland Oregon)
