I’m listing this 1960 Corvette Convertible for a friend who inherited it from his uncle. The New Jersey title is clear. I am a classic car enthusiast and not an expert. I have seen the car a few hours while taking pictures and can offer only my perspective.
This car was registered in Florida and New Jersey in the early 1970’s. At some time, the original 283 was removed and replaced with a 327. The original, partially disassembled, engine (block # 3756519) is included with the sale. The two four-barrels, intake and heads have been removed presumably in the early 70’s. Its condition is unknown. Given the twin carbs, it’s either the 245 hp or 270 hp version. For reasons unknown, the car was parked in the early 70’s inside a commercial NJ space until the seller received it a few years ago. Since then, it has been parked, uncovered, in a private garage. No attempts have been made to start the car since the seller took possession. The hardtop has not been removed so I cannot assess the soft top. Although 60 years have gone by, the paint and interior appear to be original. The paint has some cracking around the edges. The glass is good. I have not seen it in the air, but the undercarriage does not show inordinate amounts of rust. The wheels are mixed but the original hubcaps are included with the sale. The rear plexi on the hardtop has a small crack at the bottom center and has been drilled to stop the crack. The trunk lid was removed at some time with a fiberglass repair being made to a hinge. It remains off the car. The car can be seen by appointment in Whiting, NJ. Please email me with any questions and I will forward them on to the seller.
