Vehicle description
Styling, class, attitude and popularity is what this 1960 El Camino has to offer. I am offering what appears to be a nice honest, car that is ready for a new owner that wants to put it back on the road. This was originally a 283 V8 with 2sp power glide transmission and power steering as an option. The 283 does have the Pyramid “power pack heads” but has a 2brl Carb. Not sure if the engine is original or not, but appears to be mostly complete. The radiator and shroud were gone when I picked it up. I have not tried to turn the motor over and would figure it needs a complete overhaul. The El Camino appears to still have the original paint and great patina, for the person that wants to leave the body as it is. The body is pretty straight with exception of a dent on the front left fender. As you can see in the pics, the grille is in very nice shape, front and back glass is good and it even has the original 14” wheels with hubcaps. The car does show to have some rust in the inner and outer lower quarters, bed floor near the cab, just behind the seat and the floor pans. All of these are known to be the usual problem areas and patch panels are produced to repair them. From what I can see, the front, middle and rear cross braces are still good. The inner and outer rockers are surprisingly in great shape and very usable. The interior is still in good restorable condition, but will need a complete interior kit to make it perfect. It does have door panels, but they look to be homemade at some time. The gauges are all in the car and show to still haves good faces and would be very usable or to be perfect will need restored. This is not a running and driving car, and I am not advertising it as such. The El Camino will need to be a complete restoration to be made road worthy. These El Caminos are increasing in popularity and are growing in value. This would make a great foundation for your next project. If this is not the car for you, give me a call. Once the auction has ended, the lucky buyer will need to send a $500 deposit within 24hrs after auction ends, and the balance to be paid within 5 business days, or upon pick up, whichever comes first. If you have zero feedback or low auction history, your bid will be removed, unless you have contacted me in advance.
