Vehicle description
1959 VW Bug / Beetle for sale Nicely restored example of an original 1959 bug to factory specifications. The car has its original numbers matching (#2592531) 1200cc (36 HP) engine and 6 volt charging system. The body, interior & chassis, and trim restoration was completed by the previous owner in 2011. This restoration addressed the following: • Beautiful exterior & interior black paint job • All glass is original and in excellent condition • All new correct stainless trim • All new correct interior (seats, headliner, door panels, and carpeting) • All new body (mount to floor panel) and fender gaskets • All new rubber moulding (door, window, hood, and motor compartment) - cabin is airtight. In 2012, in excess of USD$10,000 was invested on maintenance and upgrades (receipts included) including: • Motor overhaul in September 2013 @ 12,128 miles (current reading is 24,728 miles) USD$6,000 • New brakes • New front shocks (rear shocks were in good condition so not installed. The set of new rear shocks is included with the car) • New starter motor • New clutch and components in April 2015 I purchased the car in April 2015 (13,599 miles) and have addressed the original charging system, replacing the 6 volt generator, voltage regulator, and added a new 6 volt battery. I also had the stock fuel pump re-built with German components. Last year I completely overhauled the brakes ($3,000) on all four corners. Recent tune up with new stock points and condenser. Runs perfect. There is no shortage of these older bugs (pre-1967) available on the market, but this late 1950"s restored example in this desirable colour combination of black with brick red interior, and classic Coker whitewalls narrows your choices considerably. Generally, the older the car, the higher the price, assuming similar condition. Pre-"53 split windows and pre-"58 oval windows are highly sought after, not to mention the 1958-1961 (still no fuel gauge), followed by the 1962-1967. Obviously, beetles continue on from 1968 models all the way to current front engine designs, but those bugs typically appeal to a different enthusiast. There are no issues whatsoever, and the car runs and drives perfectly. The synchros for second gear are slightly worn, but cause no drivability issues. Any questions are welcomed and additional photos are available upon request. This is not a Concours Show Winner, but it is an excellent quality, restored example with nice paint, newer interior, confident engine where everything works and functions as it should have in 1959. Although not concours, it has won several awards at regional VW and vintage car shows. These cars are an investment. Market values for vintage beetles are taking off and it is expected that these cars will only increase in value over time - especially the restored examples from the 1950"s and early 1960"s. This has already been witnessed since 2006-ish with these cars, and even more so over the past three years (See Hagerty Chart below). Hagerty Valuation Guide (May 2020) #1 Concours $USD58,000.00 #2 Excellent $USD35,100.00 #3 Good $USD17,400.00 #4 Fair $USD8,700.00 Enjoy this classic today and get ready for all the comments, people"s own VW stories & memories, as well as all of the thumbs up - everybody of all ages loves a PUNCH BUGGY!
