1959 Triumph TR3 Restoration Ready to GO! Runs and drives. VIN: TS54527L Mileage: 79,860
This TR3 belonged to a friend of mine that recently passed away. I purchased the car from the estate. It has an original clean Pennsylvania title.
He purchased in it 1984, drove it around for a few years and then was involved in an accident; last inspection sticker was dated 10/92. Car has been sitting in dry garage since. It was partially disassembled when I purchased it, as he was starting the restoration process.
Please note that car incurred frame damage on the front passenger side from the accident, and a few less-than-perfect welds were put into place to fix it (please see photo with black arrow showing welds).
A piece of frame section is included, see photos. It was in the owners garage when I purchased the car; I believe he was going to cut out the piece where the welding was done on the frame, in an attempt to fix it.
Passenger side wire wheel was also damaged in this accident, and it was replaced with a wire wheel with less spokes. Due to this damage, the passenger side wheel sits closer to the fender than the driver"s side, please see split photo of two for comparison.
Car was missing both front fenders, front apron / hood, trunk, and also doors were unbolted when I bought it. We brought the car into the shop and reassembled it to its current condition. We installed a right front fender, front apron, front bumper & front grill assembly from another TR3 that we had in the shop.
We were unable to locate original fender bolts, so we installed fenders with non-original bolts; a boxed of assorted nuts/bolts we received with the car is included.
We installed a clutch slave cylinder, slave cylinder hose, cleaned carburetors, flushed brake fluid, and reset points. We cleaned fuel bowl and fuel lines and added fresh fuel. We also changed oil / filters, anti-freeze, spark plugs, and put a fresh battery in. She starts right up! Good oil psi, did not smoke or overheat.
Engine does has aftermarket headers. I remember my friend telling me that he had done some work to the engine, however I was unable to locate any service records.
1991 CC Inline Engine purrs like a kitten! Please see startup video on youtube Click Here!- - > TR3 Starts Right Up!
Includes tonneau cover & convertible top. Please note that convertible top has shrunk over time and will NOT be installed on car when it is shipped out.
Fuel tank was removed and sent out to be cleaned and coated; this cost about $250.
Car has a lot of hard to come by parts: Nice set of seats/frames "Trafficator" turn signal assembly Side curtain windows Ignition/glovebox key (same key) Factory heater in excellent condition Original working horns. "Special" original removal tool for front bonnet/spare compartment
Also includes an original, bent hood latch.
