Vehicle description
One of only 7,788 1959 Hawks built in 1959. Of that, only 5,371 had V-8 engines. Engine rebuilt around 2004 with a 4-barrel carburetor. Has 5 whitewall radial tires and front bucket seats. Seats and door panels made with original fabric. Only the clock doesn"t work. Runs well but needs lube and tune-up.
Vehicle was my daily driver for years, so it has some minor scratches and paint chips. Trunk lid is slightly out of alignment, but I am working on it this week. There is some light water staining on inside passenger door. Left over paint is included, for color matching. Three sets of keys are included along with two sets of front floor mats.
1959 Silver Hawks had some idiosyncrasies, such as the back-up lights only work when the headlights are turned on (I"m not kidding!). The transmission fluid has to be checked inside the car and the brake master-cylinder is in front of the driver seat, under the carpet.
Car was restored with original fabrics and new headliner and carpet. Powder-coated rims. No rust. A photo of the car was featured on the back cover of Turning Wheels magazine. Included in the price is official 1959 Studebaker repair and parts manuals and misc. paperwork, parts and receipts related to the car.
Please contact me with any questions or requests for additional photos.
