1959 Fiat Cabriolet Vetture Special. Spring is here and what a fun way to cruise the back roads. This car is one of several we have owned over the past 20 years. The Fiat cabriolet"s are just fun dependable little cars to enjoy. This car is the 1200 Cabriolet Vetture Special and features 2 tone interior Red/Black, over sized drum brakes, 4 speed transmission, Radio, and special deluxe trim features included a padded rumble seat. This car is one of the first from the factory. Production number is so low at just 002650. Fiat produced just around 40,000 of these cars during an 4 year period (59-63) and obviously this car being a 59 is the first year. From 64-67 the car was produced as the 1500 model. Car has a brand new top new battery. This car is in very nice condition but like most older cars it needs a little attention to a few areas. Body is solid, the rockers need patching or replacing. I have a brand new set of rocker panels that come with the car imported from Italy. Any good metal body man can do this job and it is not terribly expensive. The radio stopped working after 50+ years. Simple AM radio/Motorola. The transmission works as it should easily shifting through the gears. The engine runs nice, has power and does not smoke at all. Chrome is in super nice condition. Paint on the car, its a nice paint job from 10 feet. Looking closely; the engine hood has a small area (2" x 2") that has cracks. The rear drivers side tail light area has a minor crease. Small/tiny bubbles in a few areas. The car would benefit from a repaint but over all is a good driver. The windshield has 2 chips in it. These can be repaired easily but I also have a clean windshield that comes with the car if desired included with the purchase. Brakes, the brakes need to be gone through, they work but at times the pedal is soft. No leaks detected which makes me think its the master cylinder. It is a simple single circuit system, master and wheel cylinders are available new for about 250 total, easily replaced and then I would say they are reliable. I have a new master that comes with the car, I may get to replacing it myself over this next week just for the safety factor of it all. Interior is in nice shape for a driver, for a show car some upholstery work could be done to freshen it up. please ask questions about this car, she is beautiful to look at and also to drive. people often mistake it for the other "F" Italian car lol. The inner wells are solid showing no signs of rust anywhere. Looking from the inside engine and trunk spaces this car has always been in a garage.
Q, Is that the original engine and trans? Can the radio be fixed? A. Yes they are the original motor and transmission. The radio can be fixed easily.
