Vehicle description
If you ever wanted a "59 Cadillac to make as your own, here"s a good place to start! I"ve owned this car since 2012 and as you can see from the pictures when it was red, it was a pretty sharp 4 door. It"s a "Flat Top" Series 62 4 window. I bought it because A. I"m a "59 fan (have owned four), and B. It was a mechanically solid car with great chrome.
In time, we decided to have the bodywork and the bad floorboards repaired. That"s when things went sideways on us. The shop we paid didn"t complete the work and I ended up having to sue to get the car and deposit back (after they moved). I was able to retrieve car, but as you can see, it"s still completely apart and was media blasted. They started some work, cutting out some floor panel, adding some patch panel, but it perhaps was just to appease me with photos of progress. This shop used to be featured on the Discover Channel and I thought they"d be a little more responsible. I was wrong.
Now about this old girl. The previous owner I bought it from had a new fuel tank put in and the transmission rebuilt (it still leaks as most do). I had the carburetor (Carter) rebuilt and had another shop go through the brakes. That"s all it needed and it drove great, the best of the "59"s I"ve had in fact. Maybe it was peppier due to the higher rear gear ratio being an A/C car. Speaking of options, you can see from the body tag that it was originally Dover white with white and black interior. It"s a well optioned car with E-Z Eye Glass (E), Heater (H), Air Conditioning (K), Power windows (X), and Power 6 Way Front Seat (Y). The A/C is no longer original with an aftermarket compressor and evaporator (Mark IV), which is inoperable. All the windows worked, though one of the rears was a little slow. The power seat worked, and overall everything was pretty good on the car before disassembly. When they disassembled the car, they went as far as to take the windows and regulators out of the doors.
I have all the parts for the car stored in a trailer and it does in fact run and drive. The brakes are dragging now, due to either the dustless blasting media or time putting some surface rust in the drums.
The car has a reasonable reserve. I can assist with loading and perhaps transport. Ask any questions you may have. Happy Bidding!
