Vehicle description
1959 FLEETWOOD FORMAL LIMOUSINE
In 1959 Cadillac produced approximately 570 of this model divider window limousine. GM also produced 710 model 75 sedan"s that came with limited options and no divider window. Those limousine"s were built for the funeral market. Cadillac historical documents show that this particular limousine was built and designated to GM headquarters. All other limousines were sent to dealers who special ordered them or were sent overseas. It may have been used by GM brass or sent discretely to a government leader. It is unknown.
This Cadillac was owned by a gentleman in his 80"s that is one of Oregon"s most successful people. He has now sold off all his cars. He owned this Cadillac for many years. Ironically, one of the cars he just sold was a rare Model A, that belonged to me. I sold that car to him back in 1971. I had that Model A through high school and college.
I had this painted 5 months ago. It had never been damaged and the sides are laser straight. (They were not when it was new). The stainless is all highly polished and the chrome is exceptional. All the body lines fit cleanly and the doors shut and lock easily.
The motor has been completely overhauled and done with no expense spared. This had a rear main seal leaking and the crank shaft had to be dropped. While apart and the engine out, I had them go through the whole motor. In addition, the radiator was refurbished, new water pump, new heater core and had the carburetor professionally rebuilt.
The interior has been refinished. The dash, door panels and headliner are original and well preserved. The front leather seat is new and finished correctly. The bottom and backrest rear seat are new and also done exactly as they were when General Motors made the car. Some of the trunk is original and the gold weave material had to be specially made.
There is absolutely no rust anywhere on this car. All 5 tires are new. Starts and runs smoothly. It is a 1959 Cadillac and they did not build many.
