Custom Project Needs Someone To Finish It
Project vehicle that needs metal fabrication and other skills to complete. Is a non-running vehicle that will need to be trailered with a vehicle with winching capabilities. Various loose parts included with vehicle so plan to pick those up with vehicle. Vehicle is sold AS-IS WHERE-IS. Some items pictured may not be included with vehicle. Some images are older before additional work was performed. Detailed build log can be viewed at https:/ www.hotrodders.com/threads/1958-mercedes-hot-rod-on-a-s10-frame.270962/
Engine and transmission are from a 1985 Ford F150 5.0/302 SBF Small Block Ford and AOD 4 speed automatic with overdrive that had 75k on it and was running and driving when pulled approx 10 years ago. Includes Weiand Stealth intake and stainless shorty tubular headers. Includes right angle oil filter adapter to clear frame crossmember. Aluminum radiator fitted to car is included with shroud and electric fan. Carb pictured is NOT INCLUDED.
Frame is a 1987 S10 short wheel base that has been step notched in rear and boxed. Rear springs are Belltech lowering springs with new shackles bushings and lowering blocks. Front suspension is original 87 S10 with lots of miles. Rear axle is 1987 S10. Custom built driveshaft included.
Includes two sets of wheels and tires . one set of American Racing Outlaw (Centerline AutoDrag style) aluminum wheels brand new with new tires zero miles . fronts are 15x7 and rears are 15x8 that were 15x7"s widened to the inside by Weldcraft to fit the car with P275/60R15 Hankook tires in the rear and 205/70R15 Hankook tires in the front. Also included are used 14" and 15" steelies with used tires.
Poly fuel tank fitted to car is included, needs finish installation work and plumbing.
Trunk floor is nearly finished. Main floor inside cabin is 5.0 Fox Mustang partially installed. Rear wheel mini-tubs partially complete. If going to run car low with tall tires will need to continue wheel tubs into rear door jambs and relocate rear door latches higher (see build thread for pictures of this arra). No firewall or dash. * I do have a nice setback firewall section for a tri-five Chevy I was going to use to make the firewall that I will include with the car . also I have a 55 Ford dash I was going to cut down and narrow to use to make a dash for the car that I will also include with the car *
Car was originally a unibody and is being built as one - body is tied in permanently with the S10 frame using rectangular tubing. Car is nice and solid with no flexing. Should be good driving and handling and would probably go pretty good with a strong motor.
Rocker panels not shown on car but are included as well as the bumpers and front roll pan/valance.
Body has rust in spots and evidence of prior body work and bondo under layers of peeling paint. Car has been in Virginia since originally purchased by a judge in Rappahannock County Virginia. It was parked in 1978 in a barn where cows rubbed against it so it has some good dents in it. Unique "patina" I was going to leave the body as-is and just make it driveable. My plans changed and I am now offering it for someone else to finish and enjoy.
