Fiberglass Americana is expressed in its purest form by the Corvette. 1953 marked the beginning of this fabled story, however, its early days were quite rocky. Sales were lackluster over the first few years and a V8 wasn’t introduced until the third year of production. A revamped car for 1956 and a beefed-up engine were quite helpful, but the sales still weren’t close to the rivaling Thunderbird. 1958 was large uptick for the American sports car as sales neared 10,000 and performance figures kept climbing. The 1958 redesign was not well loved initially but the new car quickly made an impact on racetracks all across the country.
New for 1958 included a full slate of aesthetic changes. These included a longer front end, quad-headlights, bumper-exit exhaust tips, hood louvers, twin trunk spears, updated dashboard, and new steering wheel. Even though these changes weren’t highly desirable in period, they have made the 1958 a styling icon and one of the most sought-after Corvettes of all time. This striking Signet Red over white example has been owned by the same gentlemen since 1993. Over the last 3 decades, this car has been meticulously cared for and taken to countless car shows, winning awards wherever it went.
Prior to the Corvette’s current owner, Competition cams were added to the date-correct 283 C.I. engine in 1984. 5 years later, a complete restoration including an engine and transmission rebuild was completed on the car and still presents well to this day. Included with this first-generation Corvette are 2 owner’s manuals, documented service receipts, an extra air cleaner, car cover, spare tire, and numerous show plaques and awards from the prior 3 decades.
Over the last year, the following services were completed:
A&A Automotive Repair (11/2020)
- Inspect and adjust brakes
- Replace thermostat
- Perform oil & change
- Coolant flush
- Lube steering and suspension parts
- Alignment and wheel balance

- New spark plugs
- Blead brakes and new fluid
