1957 FORDTHUNDERBIRD “D” CODE VIN # D7FH138829 Trim Tag 40 XX XK 8L710544P Up for sale isthis stunning 1957 Ford Thunderbird Convertible. Owned by its current owner who is selling becauseshe just doesn’t have time to drive and enjoy it like she used to. Current ownerhas owned and enjoyed the car for the past 6-7 years, when about 2 years ago,took to a local, shady shop to have some work done to the car, when sadly theynever stored, serviced or did anything car- they just left outside andneglected. In this time, the car gotkeyed- around the whole car… thebusiness closed shop, took her money anddisappeared … The paint issingle stage paint, don’t know how old the paint is, but shows very welloutside of the keyed panels upon close inspection. The body does show a couple of areas oftouch-up. There is some rust bubblingon the bottom of the right rear quarter by the wheel well and also minor ruston the bottom of the doors… Most of thechrome and brightwork are in good shape, the back bumper is starting to showpitting. Glass is in great shape. We did not remove the hardtop to see whatshape the convertible top is in, but from what we can see, it does show age andmay need to be replaced ? Very nicebody gaps , opening / closing of the doors, hood and trunk also are nice andsolid. Undercarriage, Firewall andTrunk Pan are very nice and solid. Interior isvery nice, working gauges except for tach. Heater or Radio does not work. Working wipers, signals and lights. Horn does not work. Working power windows and power seat. Inside of hardtop does show signs of age, withcracking of the paint, but overall headliner in great shape. “ Believedto Be “ original “ D” code motor , transand rear… Motor starts right up andsettles to smooth idle, excellent powerfrom motor and smooth shifts from automatic transmission. Does have exhaust leak. Manual steering, steering wheel is “off-center”and not in correct position when driving. Manual brakes could use servicing- soft pedal feel and squeaking. Overall, the car drives very well, justwould recommend fixing the steering wheel and having the brakes looked at. The car needs to be started in neutral, thenput into gear to drive.
