Vehicle description
Vehicle Details This Porsche Speedster 356 is in great condition for the year, minimal to no rust, very straight and clean body, and it runs true to the road. This Porsche was originally bought at a luxury car auction in CA, then sold to a local collector of fine automobiles in El Paso, TX who had it for over 10-years. He is about 70 years old now and had trouble hoping in and out of this Speedster, so he traded it for a Model A in El Paso and that is where I picked it up. I worked in Sales and Finance at the local Porsche dealer here in San Antonio from 2000 - 2003 and have always had a passion for these cars. This collector did some modifications to it, one being the motor, he had a upgraded 1800cc motor with larger pistons and sleeves put in. In runs and drives great, no smoke, and I’ve had it in my garage for a year and have not noticed any oil leaks. Due to COVID and a slow down in business I’m forced to sell this beauty, but I’m not desperate and will not give it away. There is a picture of a Texas title showing it as a 356 Porsche on the title and not a Kit Car, however I am not selling for the price as an original 356 Porsche, because I’ve done my research and there are subtle differences with the original and a replica. The shell of replicas were taken from an original 356 speedster so the bodies of replicas are pretty much identical to the original and these cars were built so simply, it’s hard to tell any differences from a replica and an original. However, the gauges in mine do not appear to be original, the ebrake on a original was a handle under the dash not on the center console like this car, the steering wheel does not appear to be original, also the only other difference I know of from an original is the pedals hang from the top, these pedals are down on the floor board. A kit car of this quality would sell new for about $60k and a original 356 speedster in this condition would be worth over $250,000. I am selling this Porsche for what you would pay for a above average condition quality pre-owned replica, as that is what I expect this Porsche to be, due to the differences I’ve researched. Nonetheless, this Speedster is a joy to drive, if you join a Porsche car club you’ll have a blast, car guys are always the best group of guys you can meet, this Porsche is great for photo-ops, and is a very dependable and reliable driver. Bid with confidence, this Porsche will not last long. All sales are AS-IS and any inspections or questions should be asked before bidding. Take note of my 100% positive feedback and an seller for 20-years. This vehicle was listed on previously and sold for $35,100, but the high bidder contacted me and stated he was unable to consummate the transaction. Please serious bidders only.
