The Star Chief was a top of the line muscle sports coupe of the late 1950"s, a sleek yet bold 2 door coupe with a jet age"d tail-fin design this was one of the nicest General Motors vehicles you could own back then.
These 2 door Star chiefs are extremely rare and because of pot metals and time, many of these classics have rusted out, been destroyed or have simply vanished. Rarely do you find such a solid example of an original car that has been well maintained, garage kept and updated and restored over the years.
MECHANICAL: This Star Chief has been meticulously maintained over the years. Motor has had a complete rebuild, service and tune-up, everything gone through extensively. Starts u p every-time even cold without any issues . Accelerates very nicely, has very good power and has a great sound.
Vehicle drives straight tracking down the road and does not pull when driving.
Automatic Jet-Away Transmission shifts effortlessly and mechanically this car is extremely sound.
The engine block has been REBUILT several years ago and does not smoke or misfire or give any hesitation when accelerating whatsoever.
Brakes are good and car stops as it should. This car can be driven anywhere with confidence
BODY: Cosmetically this car looks very sharp (see pics) and always gets major attention wherever it is being driven or parked.
Car was painted several years ago and looks very presentable, not perfect but does have a nice shine with a very few number of minor imperfections. Driver Quality.
Virtually a RUST FREE car. NO holes in the floor or in the trunk, car is very solid. Very little of the body has diminished and is in extremely good condition for it"s age.
INTERIOR: one of the nicest upgrades on the car the interior was professionally reupholstered and very much attention, detail and time was put into the interior when the car was restored. (see pics)
EARLY 1957 MODELS ONLY were outfitted with "Stars" on the upper portion of the seats (see pics).
These interior "stars" are an extremely more rare build number and add a distinctive authentic 1957 Pontiac feel to this already rare coupe. Later year 1957 models dropped the stars in the seats altogether.
Dash, interior chrome, headliner, door panels and seats are all in excellent restored condition. (see pics)
Seats are very comfortable and make driving this classic a pleasure to sit in and admire. All manual windows operate smooth mechanically, seat mechanics and all system mechanics are manual and all function as they should. No Issues.
BRIGHTWORK: Chrome and Stainless is all there on the car and every piece is in tact. Chrome is original and shows its age, however is in good shape for being original.
This car is not of show quality by judging authorities at shows, however for the everyday car collector or Pontiac enthusiast this is an excellent automobile that has been kept in excellent condition for its time. This isn"t for somebody who wants a perfect car. However this is an excellent candidate for an A1 restoration (little to no rust).
Star Chief"s in this condition are becoming harder and harder to find. Perfect restoration Star Chief"s command $30-40-50-60K+ this if for somebody that does not want a perfect car, an affordable partially restored car that one can actually drive and enjoy.
