This 1957 Metropolitan is a Survivor - Original paint (Berkshire Green over Frost White), chrome, glass, etc. It is rust free with no body repairs. You can’t take it anywhere without drawing a crowd. Stop at a traffic light and watch everyone smile and wave. The car runs beautifully. The engine is very smooth both at idle and while driving. The brakes work well, the transmission shifts smoothly, the clutch does not slip and the temperature is normal. The speedometer works but the odometer does not. The gas gauge stays on full until there is two gallons remaining in the tank and then it moves to empty. There is a modern radio under the dash. The original radio does not work but is included along with several miscellaneous parts and manuals.
Recent work includes replacement of the brake master cylinder, clutch master cylinder, clutch slave cylinder, 6 brake wheel cylinders, brake shoes, fuel pump, battery and muffler. All fluids have been changed including: engine,transmission,differential, brakes and cooling.
The original interior is still installed. The seats are covered by slip covers. Included with the car is a complete interior kit manufactured by a National Metropolitan supplier. It is the original black and white houndstooth with white trim and buttons. It has cushions for the seats, front seat bottom and back covers, rear seat bottom and back covers, headliner, kick panels and carpet.
The car has a clean Florida title in my name. A $500. deposit is required 48 hours after bid closes. Total payment must be received within 10 days. Call with any questions
