Vehicle description
I have reluctantly decided to sell my 1956 Pontiac Starchief Convertible. I offered it for sale , once before, but changed my mind thinking that I would get to it soon. That did not happen so here it is. I bought this in Joshua Tree Ca a couple of years ago. The story was that it had been in outdoor storage since 1972. It was sold at a storage auction. The seller installed brand new rear springs as the old ones were sagging and rusted. He had been asking $17,500 for it. The top had been gone for decades and it rained inside the car rusting out both the front and rear floor pans. Both rockers and quarters have some rust. The right door has some in the bottom. There is a little rust in the two rear corners of the trunk. I have included pics of all of it. The spare tire well is not rusted. When I got the car it had bald, low profile, blackwall tires. No hubcaps. The carb and lower portion of the oil bath air cleaner were missing and one headlight ring. The grille, bumper and grille guard were twisted and bent. I have included a pic from the day that I got it. Since then I located 4 correct hubcaps from two different sources, located the correct carb, had it rebuilt and installed, purchased another 56 Pontiac and swapped out the bent front end pieces, the steering wheel and radio, pulled the plugs and put Marvel Mystery Oil down the cylinders but have not tried to start it as yet. I have not yet located the lower portion of the air cleaner or the headlight ring. I have located the replacement floor pans, on for about $200. Most of the body is dent free. There is a dent above the left tail light. The old gal still wears her original patina paint! I think that I have both of the 1963 issue black California plates for it. I have lien sale paperwork on it. There are no back fees and it is out of the California DMV system. I live in Southern California about 75 miles North of Santa Barbara and 10 miles South of Pismo Beach right off of the 101. I have a car trailer and can deliver it, after it is paid for. $1/mile round trip up to 200 miles or so. My name is Dana. My cell number is 805 550 8502 call or text. I am not too interested in trades as I have over 20 vehicles.
