Vehicle description

Vehicle Details 1956 Ford Thunderbird The car is a rare example of an all-original survivor. The vehicle is not “mint”; but would be described as an outstanding “driver” car. Besides, who wants it to sit in a garage? The current owner is the “second family” owner of this numbers matching vehicle since 1956. The first owner was from Chester County, Pennsylvania and kept the car in a climate-controlled garage, passed it to his son, and then to the current owner’s parents. The owner’s parents purchase the car in 2003 and continued to keep it garage kept. The owner purchased it from his Mother in August 2017. It was shipped on a covered car carrier to San Diego, California. The car has continued to be stored inside when not driven and has not seen rain. Owner had documented proof of ownership from 1956 to the current owner, including title transfers through 2017. Service records are inclusive from 2006, with a lot of work performed since 2017. All paperwork to this effect will be provided digitially and on paper, upon completion of sale. The 1956 model year was the second-year production run for the 1st generation Ford Thunderbird. Improvements included the optional 312 V-8 (over the standard 292 V-8), side floor vents for cooling, and a continental rear-mounted spare tire. This vehicle has 62,000 original miles, equipped with the optional Thunderbird Special V-8 Engine (312 CID). Other factory options included Ford-O-Matic Drive transmission, Full-Flow Oil Filter, Oil Bath Air Cleaner, Swift-Sure Power Brakes, Master-Guide Power Steering, I-Rest Tinted Safety Glass, Convertible Fabric Top (stored behind the front seat), MagicAire Heater, Rear Fender Shields, Full Wheel Covers, Windshield Washer, Exterior Rear-View Mirrors, Back-Up Lights, Color-Keyed Tonneau Cover, Lifeguard Padded Instrument Panel, Lifeguard Padded Sun Visors, and Lifeguard Seat Belts. The car starts and drives very well. It has been driven a minimum of every two weeks (minus garage work for 1 ½ months in 2018) to keep it good running order. The original motor requires lead additive with an octane boost (about $9.00) for each fill-up to keep it running smooth. The vehicle had the original factory paint and chrome bumpers buffed (less the removable hard top), then a ceramic coating applied in early 2018. It has since been washed by hand with a sponge and hand dried (no garden hose needed). The color is the factory “peacock blue” and appears to be original. Also, California “Year of Manufacture” license plates were obtained to give it an all-original, vintage appearance! The hard top had been removed from the car but will be re-attached upon completion of sale/delivery.Regarding mechanical work history, all repairs have retained the OEM configuration.
