Vehicle description

1956 DeSoto Fireflight Sportsman 4dr. Hardtop. A hard to find DeSoto! Canary Yellow with Silver roof and cove! Will be a great color combo once restored. Mostly original paint on 90,595 mile car. Pictures taken late summer.
The car is very solid including the frame, Car came out of Utah several years ago but I"am not going to be able find the time restoring it. The floors are in very good condition with minor rust near front door post, solid center posts. See Photos! The left outer rocker panel will need replaced and the right has minor repairable issues. Like most 55-56 Mopars, the center trunk pan will need replaced as will gas tank. Minor rust on lower rear quarters. Front windshield has a crack. All depicted in photos and if you would like more, just ask.
The car has an excellent running Hemi engine, a little oil leak on right valve cover but a quiet strong running engine. The 4 barrel Carb was rebuilt maybe 5 years ago. Shifts well thru gears but currently has no brakes, NO, it will not drive down road or across country. Dual exhaust needs replaced. The ignition switch acts up at times and may need to be jumped under hood to start. I have not looked into the issue, I suspect a crossed wire.
The car has most available options which include Power Windows and Power Seat, all working condition. Power Steering and Power Brakes, Town and Country Radio with Power Antenna, again both working! Interior will of course need redone but is 100% intact with nice dash. Front seat was covered when I purchased, but assume it needs reupholstered. The headlight door and bulb are included and have some other parts we can discuss.
This would make a beautiful, rare car when restored. I am listing it to sell, I would like a $500.00 deposit upon winning of auction (if paypal is used, please cover fees) and payment within 3 days either by wire transfer or cashiers check from national bank. Any other arrangements needed, please email me prior to bidding to discuss. Car can remain up to 60 days if needed however may need to move out doors. If you need further time, as long as paid as described, I will clearly work with you. MAY CONSIDER ADDING A BUY IT NOW! Let me know if you wish to do so. Inspections welcomed.
Thanks for looking and any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out.
