Vehicle description
You are bidding on a 1955 Studebaker Champion Deluxe four-door sedan being offered with NO RESERVE. The car is a late "55 model with the wraparound "Ultra-Vista" windshield and is equipped with a three-speed manual transmission with overdrive. Mileage shows 30,000, but actual mileage is unknown. It is wearing an older restoration with a non-authentic interior. The Champion is fitted with a replacement engine, as the engine block is not stamped with an engine number. It runs, drives, and stops, and the overdrive operates normally.
Exterior: The Champion"s paint is in very good condition, but does have some blemishes. There is an area of trauma on the passenger side front fender where the hood corner appears to have contacted on the hood (see pictures) and other areas of chipped paint and/or touch up visible (see pictures). There are some visible light scratches/polishing marks on the finish, as well as some imperfections visible in the door sill area. Brightwork is in very good/excellent shape (see pictures). Tire are Optimo radials - 205/75-15.
Interior: The interior has been refinished in non-authentic materials, but is in very good to excellent condition (see pictures). Car is fitted with lap belts. Headliner is in very good condition. Door panels in very good shape, although passenger side front door panel has blemish (see pictures). Instrument panel is fitted with aftermarket temperature gauge. Windows appear to need new cat whiskers as clothespins are in place to wedge window to window frame, likely to reduce rattles. Driver"s side rear window was difficult to operate - did not attempt to force it to avoid potential breakage. Sill plates and weatherstrips show wear. Non-factory weatherstrip materials were used in places (see pictures). Radio operates and was able to receive local AM station.
Mechanical: Car runs, drives and stops and overdrive operates normally. Engine is factory replacement with no engine number stamped on block. Carries good oil pressure. Car is fitted with electric fuel pump activated by switch on instrument panel. Car has been retrofitted with a manual choke. Radiator has overflow tank plumbed to overflow tube on filler neck. Has minor oil leak from oil pan area. Underhood insulator pad is missing, but a new one is included in the sale.
Body/Chassis: Frame and undercarriage appears very solid and rust free (see pictures). Trunk is very clean and rust free (see pictures). Doors could use some adjustment for optimal fit.
Other : Sale includes three boxes of spare parts, highlights of which include previously mentioned hood insulator, tune-up parts, radiator hoses, accelerator pedal, rear main seal, air filter, and parts and service manuals.
Contact: Car may be viewed by appointment. Message with questions or for additional pictures or call/text 574-532-8352.
Terms: Car is offered with NO RESERVE, and is sold AS IS, WHERE IS, with no warranty of any kind. Title is in hand, and will be accompanied by a bill of sale. Title will be released when car is picked up/shipped. U.S. buyers only. Seller will not ship - buyer responsible for shipping/pickup. Total amount due within 72 hrs. of close of auction. Car must be picked up or shipping arrangements in place within seven (7) days of close of auction. Seller will process payment. Cash, certified funds, Visa/MC/DV/AMEX accepted.
