Vehicle description
Here is a very nice driver/show quality Beck 550 Spyder replica. This is a rather unusual example of the marque in that it has many of the options that are offered with these cars including but not limited to leather, upgrade shifter, badges, front grille, jack points, top mounts, wide five wheels w/aluminum hub covers and possibly most importantly 4WDB. The most unusual item in the car might be the use of a real 914 Type 4 engine that was recently rebuilt by a shop well known in the air cooled circle. This engine is reportedly an over bored 2.0 but I cannot document that. Also mentioned was a new clutch and rebuilt Weber carbs. A recent major service was done which included valve adjustment, replacement of temp and pressure senders, complete fluid change with new master cylinder and replacement/rewiring of the tail/signal light module shown in a photo along with many of the door and trunk seals. At the same time the fuel system from flushed tank to carbs was replaced along with the addition of a fuel shut-off accessible from inside the trunk, repositioning of the fuel pump, new fuel filter and AN fuel lines. Everything electrical in the car including the recently added battery shut-off accessible from the drivers seat works as originally intended and this car starts, stops and runs as well as any on the planet. I might add that the Type 4 engine which is very, very rare in these cars makes this car haul a. like a scared cat. Another thing that should be mentioned is that this car has a clear, clean NYS transferable registration/title, is listed as a 1955 Porsche with the vin number being the original Beck vin/serial number which is not only stamped into the rear frame rail but is also indicated on a tag on the drivers door jamb along with also being on the original Beck info tag in the trunk. Research indicates the car first being purchased as a rolling chassis in 2009 somewhere in Texas and the Type 4 was installed there using the supplied from Beck Rancho transmission. As always, absolutely no testy pilots.
