Vehicle description

1955 Citroen Traction Avant 11BL Convertible Mileage 44546 Kilometres or 26727 miles Engine 4 cylinder Disp 1411 Front wheel drive Transmission 3 speed manual all working as they should with no problems. The car was purchased used in 1982 by a coach builder in Toronto Ontario and had very little mileage with no rust anywhere. He then spent the next 5 years and many hundreds of hours to convert the sedan body into a two door 4 passenger convertible with a manual functioning top , roll up side windows, and front tilting seats for easy access to the rear seat. The car is in similar condition today as it was when first finished as it was hardly used in the past 39 years. At that time it was painted white in 1980 with Mercedes paint code 737 and has not had any paint work since the initial paint job. Other than some very minor scratches and chips it still looks great. Mechanically the brakes cylinders and shoes were just redone and the tires are excellent Michelin. Everything on the car works as it should. The conversion was done using the same method as Chapron did in converting the Citroen D model. Those cars are now selling upward of $300,000 USD. The conversion cost would exceed $150,000 in time and parts exclusive of the initial cost of the vehicle. We might add that there is no other four passenger Traction Avant enclosed convertible known. The few factory convertibles made over the years were all two passenger in a sports car mode. Over the many years the car remained with the coachbuilder who had done the car for his own personal ownership. I knew the car when it was first done and for the last 35 years had expressed interest in purchasing the car. He would never sell the car but finally when he passed away I was able to purchase the car from his estate. I would never sell the car except for the fact that I had a bad fall several months ago and tore all the tendons in my right shoulder which makes it impossible for me to shift gears without considerable pain. My days driving manual are now ended. This car is in exceptional condition and attracts a phenomenal amount of attention wherever it goes, and always becomes the star of the show. I would be happy for it to go to someone who will appreciate the time and considerable effort that went into creating this one of a kind car. Please note I have the ability to arrange door to door enclosed transport with any and all border requirements looked after for importation to the US as well as, worldwide shipping. That of course would be at the buyer’s expense. Should you wish to inspect have a test drive or have any questions please feel free to call 416 419-1170 and thank for your considering my listing.
