Vehicle description

1954 GMC Panel 1954 GMC Panel Truck $22,500 or Best Offer Serious Inquiries Only No Trades I purchased this truck in October of 1977 and I still have the original receipt. It has gone through a couple of overhauls through the years as it was a furniture delivery van that was pretty much left for dead. It has been 17 years since the last overha ul so there are scars, scratches and dings on the body. The hood needs an adjustment and it needs a new rear door handle. The interior is still in very good condition but the DVD player needs replaced. I purchased the engine brand new from Chevrolet in 1979. It is a 1967 283 V-8 which now has approximately 60,000 mi les on it. I added a high rise manifold, 4 barrel carburetor, and some nicer valve covers but did minimal chrome. It has a Turbo 350 automatic transmission, Mustang II front end with power assist rack and pinion steering, and a Lincoln Mark VII rear end. I also put in a tilt steering wheel and air conditioning. Cragar S/S wheels. The six foot couch in the rear folds down into a bed and has seat belts for three. 1954 was the last year of this bo dy style. They switched to the “Apache” style trucks in 1955. This body style was used from 1948-54 and, most of those years, the GMCs mirrored the Chevrolets. But since the Korean War had just recently ended in 1953, and the ban on metals had been lifted by the Government, GMC decided to go all out on the chrome grill on this edition. It was a feature that was not on the Chevrolets. This edition was only produced for half of 1954 since they were changing to the new style trucks. So this chrome grill was put on a limited amount of trucks. I hate to sell this truck since I have owned it since I was eighteen years old but I just don’t get to drive it too much anymore. I have come to the point in my life where the money needs to go in a different direction and my kids don’t need to worry about what to do with this truck after I am gone. Please do not contact me unless you are serious about purchasing this truck and I will answer all your questions.
