Vehicle description

I bought this back in May out of Nebraska. I also bought one out of CA. . .which I"m keeping. This one is up for sale. Here"s the info on the ad when I bought it. In addition, it comes with a 2005 Chevy Colorado 2wd frame which is the perfect wheel base for a frame swap and a set of colorado LS engine swap motor mounts. I have more in it then I"m asking. . . . . .I just need the space.
Up for auction is a 54 Chevy pickup. This pickup runs, moves, and stops. I bought this pickup from a guy in his mid 20"s, who"s great-grandfather bought it new. He acquired it from his grandparents when he was in high school. Over his high school years he worked for a body shop, and decided he was going to restore it. Well, as most of these stories go, he didn"t get too far. He did get some good things accomplished. He converted it from 6volt to 12 volt, replaced the carburetor with a remanufactured one, changed the gauges, added turn signals, painted the inside of the cab, recovered the seat, (not the greatest job), and replaced the headliner. Then he pulled the fenders and running boards off. He said he was going to repaint the pickup. But being in high school, and apparently not being supervised by anyone at the body shop, proceeded to add an extra 1/8" of bondo to three out of the four fenders for paint prep. That was as far as he got. He did drive it quite a bit after the gauges were put in because the odometer shows just over 1100 mi. He then parked the pickup and let it set for, what he thought was six years, before I came along and bought it from him. I gave full disclosure that I was buying it for an investment.
I was able to get, what appears to be the original 235cid running again. It has new points, condenser, cap, rotor, wires, battery, oil change, and rebuilt starter. However, I believe the carb will need rebuilt or replaced because it won"t idle. Also, when you give it gas it will sputter. It will move enough to load on a transport. The gauges all work, but the speedo doesn"t seem to want to move. The headlights are new and work, the dome light works, as do the park lights. However, only one turn signal works, and the brake and taillights do not. I think that most of this has to do with the truck sitting as long as it has. This was a factory radio pickup, but the radio is long gone.
It is a fairly solid pickup. The drivers cab corner is shot, but the passenger side is in nice shape. There is a hole in the drivers running board. There is also a few spots in the cab,( pictured below). This pickup was used for years. At some point the wood bed was replaced by the a sheet of diamond plate. There are also signs of weld spots on the box in different spots where it has cracked, (nothing major). In my mind that gives this old girl lots of character! The rear bumper was replaced with a homemade one, and the original bumper is in the back. The tailgate was also beat up by something, and I am throwing in another tailgate. The other tailgate is not perfect, but could be easily salvaged. The doors are in good shape except for the drivers lower side on the inside door panel, but it is not in the door frame itself. I believe it can be patched, (pictures below). The pickup was originally blue but at some point was painted black. What looks like bondo cracking in the passenger side cowl is actually paint cracking. There is a little bondo right under the cowl vent, but looks like it was put there to even it out for paint when painted black. All in all it"s a cool old truck that with very little work would be a lot of fun!
I have the "OPEN" title and a bill of sale just as I got it from the feller in NE. I installed a carb kit and it runs fine now. Brake are weak, I"ll work on them this week and having an exhaust put on. I think the valves need ran but it"s not bad. Let me know if you need more pics or have questions.
