Vehicle description
Very Rare 1953 Nash Rambler Airflyte Convertible painted in burgundy with burgundy and tan interior.
This is a very nice 1953 Nash Rambler Rail Top Airflyte Series 10 convertible that is rare indeed as they only made 3,284 of these unique beauties in 1953 and very few still exist! Heres your chance to buy one and as you can imagine they are getting really hard to find. The 1953 Nash Rambler was designed by Pinin Farina of Turin, Italy. This car spent most of its life in California before going to Florida for restoration. It is always stored in a climate controlled garage! The 1953 Nash Rambler Rail Top convertible was a stunning body style in 1953 and still is some 68 years later. Those of you who have seen the 50s Superman TV show probably remember Lois Lane driving one of these with Superman in the car as she was driving down the road. Too fun! The original Nash Rambler cowl data plate is intact and correctly in place on the cowl. This beauty has the strong, original L-head, super flying Scot 196 CID 6-cylinder with 90HP motor in it and running extremely well. The engine is backed by a Hydra-Matic automatic transmission. The flathead 6 has been converted to 12 volt and has a triple core radiator with electric fan to keep the engine running very cool. It also has electric fuel pump to support the mechanical pump and an electric water pump. The original water pump was driven by a shaft off the generator. This was all upgraded during the 12 volt conversion.
This car starts right up and drives like it should and the transmission shift very nicely. Lots of fun to drive and take to car shows. The car can be seen by appointment. I"m in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. I bought this car from the owner"s grandson in California. The owner"s name was Jimmy Valentine and he was the creator of the Nash Metropolitan Museum in Ca. He also started the Metropolitan Pit Stop business that sells parts and does restoration. You can find him on the internet. Any questions and I"ll be happy to answer as best as I can.
