Vehicle description

LRA Auto Museum and Sales is pleased to offer this exclusive auction on our 1953 Dodge Power Wagon, older repaint in IM 2149 green over a brown interior. This winch-optioned example is reportedly numbers matching and retains most of its original sheet metal. The glass is original and in great shape, the utility bed is rust free as well. The frame shows no sign of rot or rust, and the only problem area is a rust spot in the driver side door. The driver side roof shows previous damage and repair which is cracking, will need body / paint work. Driver Mirror is fogging and could use replacement, driver seat stitching separating on the bottom pad in center. Mechanically the truck is great, with a motor that sounds and runs strong. The 4wd system functions as it should, and it goes into both hi- and lo- range. The tires are brand new, and the brakes have a lot of life left. All wheel cylinders are new, hydro and vac system was rebuilt, and the battery was replaced. This vehicle would make a great farm or beach truck, and is a good platform for a good bones restoration for someone to enjoy while working on it. The military-inspired Dodge Power Wagon was announced by Dodge in early 1946 as a Farm Utility Truck and began sales in March of the same year. It was the civilian answer to Dodge’s WWII-winning 4x4 truck. The robust, 1-ton truck was the first ever civilian 4x4 truck to be offered by a major manufacturer. This 1953 model is the second generation of Power Wagon, and features a upgraded front and rear axle over the previous generation. The motor remains a flat-head six cylinder 230ci, upgraded to 7.25:1 compression for the ’53 model year. Any additional questions or requests please do not hesitate to reach out! (215) 781-3790
