What a beautiful truck! This 1952 Ford F1 is an outstanding example of the first generation F-series (1948-1952). It has been through a professional frame-off restoration completed in 2019 with fewer than 1,000 miles since. The resulting pickup is not only drop-dead gorgeous but is also a great driver, even if it looks too nice to put on the road.
This Ford has been in the same family since 1976. It was a work truck with its original inline-6 for most of those years, but then everything changed. The truck was completely taken apart down to the last nut and bolt. The frame was in great shape and was sandblasted and painted. Note the original "VIN" stamp remains legible on the right side rail and matches the glove box tag. The body was acid dipped and received new steel fenders and a new box. All glass and seals are new as well. The “Orange-U-Tempted” paint is a C7 Corvette color that looks fantastic, especially in the sun. Of course the bed has all new wood with black metal strips. The 17” Ridler wheels have a more modern appearance and wear Nitto tires (235 front, 255 rear).
The old straight six engine was retired in favor of a new 351 Windsor. It has a bit of a cam but was primarily built for the street so you don’t have to worry about poor vacuum, overheating, or other reliability problems. The transmission is an FMX 3-speed automatic with a Lokar shifter, and the 9-inch rear end houses a set of highway gears. The dual exhaust has a nice mellow sound though the electric cutouts can change that in a hurry.
There are many other mechanical upgrades. There is a Mustang II style front suspension with power rack and pinion steering. The rear suspension uses a 4-link setup with a Panhard rod and adjustable coilovers so you can dial in just the right stance. There are power disc brakes front and rear. An aluminum radiator was installed and the fuel tank was relocated under the bed. New parts were used throughout; bushings, lines, hoses, etc.
The interior is nicely updated as well. The bench seat was redone with some very neat upholstery that looks like mohair but feels like velour. An aftermarket dash was installed with a full set of gauges that match the rest of the interior. There is also a tilt column with an aftermarket steering wheel. The headlights and turn signals all work properly. So do the wipers, heater, horn, and cowl vent. Note there are no seat belts.
This F1 really stands out from the plethora of old trucks out there. Along with all the updated mechanicals it is full of subtle custom touches; deleted bumpers, smoothed tailgate, roll pan, integrated taillights, side exhaust, firewall panel, and more. Who would have thought a 1952 could run so well and look so smooth? Vehicle Description All vehicle trades considered, including classics and performance.
