Thank you for looking at our 1951 Studebaker Commander 2-door with 40K actual miles and a clean title. I"m going to start out by telling the story about the car: I bought this car from a gentleman who purchased it late last summer. He was driving his car in Youngstown and he"s a car enthusiast with many classic cars of his own. He saw this old man with his wife driving the car when they pulled into a grocery store. He went up to him and started talking about his car and the gentleman said that when he bought this car new in 1951, he really liked it, and he has a lot of other cars that he purchased new and held onto for all these years. So the gentleman asked the owner of the Studebaker if he"d be interested in selling the vehicle, and he answered "As long as I can shift the gears, I"m going to hold onto it. When I can"t drive it anymore, that"s when I"m going to sell it." So they exchanged numbers, and two months later the original owner of the Studebaker called the gentleman and said "I"m moving to Florida and selling some of my cars" So the gentleman bought the Studebaker from him and drove the car 3K miles over the Summer and Fall, and really didn"t have room to park it anywhere. So he offered it for sale and I purchased the car from him. So whoever buys the car from me is basically purchasing a one owner car. We believe it has all the original paint (except the front right fender was repainted at some point in time). The interior is all original but will need a little upholstery work on the driver"s door and front seat. The bottom part of the front seat was perfect until we had the car detailed and they were extracting the dirt out of the car. The extractor ripped the front seat, which is okay because I believe whoever purchases this car is going to want to upholster the front seat and fix the upholstery on the door where it"s ripped. I drove this car home from Youngstown, OH nearly 100 miles and had no problems at all. The horn works, wipers work, and it starts, shifts and steers 100%. This car has fantastic tires, and the brakes are to the top. It will need a couple tail light bulbs. The driver"s door window sticks, so I"m not pushing it hard to take a chance of wrecking it from opening and closing the window. It will have to be taken apart and lubricated . The passenger"s door window has a crack but the window still operates perfectly. The trunk is solid (as seen in the pictures, with a few extra parts. This is a 100% original survivor Studebaker, not bondo-ed , not welded, not put back together from another car. This is the real McCoy, and if you bought this car and had to replace it with an original car like this one is, you may never be able to do it. Please check out all the pictures, and if you"d like to stop by and see it in person, the car is amazing. There are over 100 pictures below in the Flickr slideshow, and one lucky person is going to win an absolutely special Studebaker.
