Vehicle description
This is a Beautifully Restored 1951 MG TD Chassis Number 9127 Engine Number XPAG/TD/LHX9495
The MG factory production records show that this MG TD was built on July 17, 1951. I have the history of this MG TD back to 1961 . In 1961 this MG TD was registered to Judge Lansing Mitchell in Covington LA. Judge Mitchell drove it regularly from 1961 until his death in 2001. Extensive records of this history are included with the car. The bright red paint is an original 1951 MG TD color and the biscuit leather interior (Moss) is an original color as well. In 2001, Judge Mitchell died and his estate sold this MG TD to Ben White in New Orleans, LA. Recently, Ben and I have had several conversations; and Ben has verified its history. Ben hired a well-known local MG restorer in New Orleans, Mike Lewis, to perform a comprehensive restoration that took over two years. During this restoration, most of the original parts were restored and used in the restoration. Ben drove it for several years. Then in 2008, Mr. William Shane wanted to purchase it for display in his popular Cars of Yesteryears Auto Museum in Metairie, LA. The museum has over 150 vintage vehicles on display. William was very impressed with the quality of the restoration and it"s sprightly performance. For the next nine years Willian Shane displayed it in his museum and drove it on a regular basis. In 2017 William Shane sold it to the Yesterday’s Classic Cars LLC in Colcord OK. In 2018 Yesterday’s Classic Cars sold it to Tom Payette in Louisville Kentucky. Tom Payette is a retired MG, Jaguar, Buick and Rolls-Royce dealer; and Tom was wowed by the restoration. Tom then hired one of his retired MG factory trained Master technicians , Bob Smith, to fully inspect it from end to end. Before Tom bought it, Bob cautioned Tom that he was reluctant to work on a well worn MG TD as he had seen enough of them in his career. However when Bob saw it in person, he marveled at its condition, the accuracy of the work done and it"s performance. This is was Bob did. . Installed five new Classic All Season 165/80R15 tires
due to the age of the tires installed during the restoration Installed new seat belts Replaced the generator Replaced the voltage regulator Installed new points, condenser and coil Installed both side door safety latch locks Replaced the rear stop lights with LED bulbs Replaced all belts and hoses Flushed the radiator Replaced the coolant Adjusted the valves and replaced the cover gasket Replaced the front brake shoes and RF wheel bearing Replaced the steering rack boots and set the toe in Flushed the fuel tank Rebuilt both carbs Replaced the fuel hoses Both the original MGTD chronometric speedometer and tachometer including the clock were not working properly, so Bob removed them and sent them to Nisonger Instruments for refurbishment. This MG TD has a tan tonneau cover, full tan convertible top and matching side curtains. Mind you. .this car ran well BEFORE Bob worked on it. I instructed him to fix or replace any parts needing attention. This is an exceptional MG TD from the quality of the restoration to its driving performance . You will not be disappointed. I welcome an inspection and will try to answer any questions you have. This is an exceptional MG TD. .lovingly care for. Feel free to call or text me. .
